I remember doing a quest which involved me having to kill wave after wave of monsters now this (I'm pretty sure anyway) was in Factions and it was when I first began playing, needless to say I failed at it horribly after like 20 tries.. I just wanted to find it again and see how easy it is just for the lulz. I hope my memory serves me right... I am pretty sure they came at me in waves O_o

TL;DR
Which quest involves waves of monsters coming at you?

Do you at least remember the area the quest took place in?

No but it was in the beginning zone somewhere around Shing Jea Island

Are you sure it wasn't a quest that took place during the dragon festival or something because I don't recall quests in the beginning area with many waves of monsters.

I suppose that's possible... but I know I was noob enough not to be lvl 20 yet, and I definitely didn't get ran anywhere by someone. I was in one of the starting area's for sure.. I'd say lvl 13-16 max.

Could you be mistaking waves of enemies for the big mob of Crimson Skulls in The Captured Son?

I'd say The Threat Grows, but that's a rather easy quest. The only other beginner area wave quest that can be hard for low level characters I can think of is Assault on Beknur Harbor, but that is in Nightfall.

Perhaps it is this:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Attack_the_Kurzicks!
There you fight in front of Gyala Hatchery and you have to fight 9 waves of Kurzick.

There's also the mission The Eternal Grove, where waves over waves of enemies come in.

Not at the start of Factions, but fits your description of waves over waves.

I can think of a couple quests that involve waves of foes but none which are normally part of Shing Jea quests.

Could you be remembering some of the mini-missions from the Dragon Festival event? http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dragon_Festival_2006 I remember those missions seemed amazingly hard during the first Dragon Festival (when there were no heroes, HM, or even NF yet.)

I remember there is a quest on Shing Jea Island, in the zone which leads to the final mission (forgot the name), where you have to retrieve an item for a questgiver from an island, and once you pick up the item you get attacked by three waves of Naga's, with a Naga Ritualist boss at the end.
Is that maybe the quest you meant?

Is there any possibility at all it may have been Nightfall starting islands?

Because there is one there, http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Assa..._Beknur_Harbor that has a few waves of critters, might be challenging if you were lower level.

Only other ones I can think of are the ones already mentioned so far.
