What if some of the perks of dedicating items to your HoM were only available through GW2 if you kept the original items. This is just a theoretical question and not a debate on whether it will happen or not. Heck no one even knows what we'll get if anything at all from the HoM. All I'm asking for is a simple Yes or NO and a short summary of why.
Personally I wouldn't be pissed as I have kept everything I dedicated to my name. I'm sure countless others will be screaming bloody murder though.
Thoughts?
Would this piss you off?

Absolutely, it would be like the 5 mini pigs for a celestial mini pig deal all over again. I had over 30 after that event & gave em away to guildies that couldnt make the event. I was upset to say the least when I found out you needed 5 of em for a celestial & people who hung on to them were chargin 100k+ for one...

Well I already know I'm not bothering with the HoM, and obviously seeing as they are added to your account once you add them to your HoM, I don't see this happeneing.
But, for the thread's sake if that was like that - I'd imagine there would be a LOT of pissed off people posting on Guild Wars 2 Guru upon GW2 release.

Let's see...
I'd lose a number of prestige armors on Shayne that I could make up for with elite armors on other characters, my titles would all still be there, my hero armors would all still be there, my Tormented weapons are spread across Shayne and his heroes...
The only thing I would have to recover is my minipet collection, which currently has a number of pricey minipets in it. I've still got two Greaseds though, and that's the only mini I care about at this point. Everything else can be re-bought or replaced by cheap whites or something.
I'd hardly be mad, and I'm even less inclined to believe that ANet would do such a thing anyways.

Yeah, that would be pretty annoying for folks who have crafted all the armor sets, dedicated them and then deleted them... same for people who decided not to hold onto a collection of dedicated minipets (aka inventory eaters).
I seriously doubt Anet would do that however, short sighted and seemingly incompetent they might be at times, but I doubt they'd be willing to piss off so many people who by their actions (HoM stuff) have indicated an interest in moving on to GW2.
Side note... Bob! Why no HoM love? Not interested in GW2, or just not interested in grindy crap to fill your HoM?

Practically it wouldn't make sense from a gameplay perspective.
Theoretically it doesn't make much sense to me either:
Like Kook~NBK~ said: The HoM is a record of your deeds and achievements, not the 'real' items. It's more like you leave a replica there of them, since you still carry them around when you leave the HoM after dedication.
Guild Wars 2 is set roughly 250 years later. Most of the things in your HoM is museum type stuff. Neat to look at but you nothing you wanna wear in a battle to protect you after all the years of collecting dust.

Well, I've kept everything, but I can't see any logical reason why we wouldn't get the bonuses if we got rid of some of it along the way. That would bother me, but the only thing I would ever consider getting rid of is minipets, but I basically filled mine with cheap whites, so it's not too much of a big deal.

Doing that would be seen as changing the rules after the fact. It would legitimately make players mad.

Having said that, I would not be mad, sad, happy or have any type of emotion. After you realize that Guild Wars is just a game, you tend to brush off potential bullsh!t like that and just move on.
I would lol :P
Ok not really, I can understand that many sell the minies after dedication.
I keep everything though... when I dedicate a mini it's like it is the final act to make it all mine. Does not matter to me that the value if I wanted to sell dies cause I sure as hell would not sell anyway. I only sell minies I happened to get 2 or more of. And I never buy minies that are already dedicated, cause I don't feel they are truly mine.

Arena.Net has been known to do this before on more technical issues.

Sure, it's just a game...but it's also an ongoing business relationship. When someone you're in a relationship with makes a clear commitment and then doesn't follow through on it, anger is the appropriate response.
I presume some people would be upset due to the amount of time and effort they spent completing their HoM, not everyone buys gold or benefited from duping you know...
I don't think this is going to be an issue since the dedicated item and the record of it being dedicated in the hall of monuments are separate entities. They've said it before (as far as I know Gaile has said it a long time ago but it's been reiterated in several publications) that you don't need to keep the items in storage once they've been dedicated to the HoM, which is why you can trade away dedicated minis for example.
Plus this'd make more sense from a technical standpoint as it's alot easier to list the entries as separate lines in a database table, they don't need the actual item, it is after all just a different piece of data.
So I can't see this being an issue.
