Would this piss you off?

What if some of the perks of dedicating items to your HoM were only available through GW2 if you kept the original items. This is just a theoretical question and not a debate on whether it will happen or not. Heck no one even knows what we'll get if anything at all from the HoM. All I'm asking for is a simple Yes or NO and a short summary of why.
Personally I wouldn't be pissed as I have kept everything I dedicated to my name. I'm sure countless others will be screaming bloody murder though.
Thoughts?

i would lmao

Absolutely, it would be like the 5 mini pigs for a celestial mini pig deal all over again. I had over 30 after that event & gave em away to guildies that couldnt make the event. I was upset to say the least when I found out you needed 5 of em for a celestial & people who hung on to them were chargin 100k+ for one...
Bob Slydell
Well I already know I'm not bothering with the HoM, and obviously seeing as they are added to your account once you add them to your HoM, I don't see this happeneing.
But, for the thread's sake if that was like that - I'd imagine there would be a LOT of pissed off people posting on Guild Wars 2 Guru upon GW2 release.

Shayne Hawke
Let's see...
I'd lose a number of prestige armors on Shayne that I could make up for with elite armors on other characters, my titles would all still be there, my hero armors would all still be there, my Tormented weapons are spread across Shayne and his heroes...
The only thing I would have to recover is my minipet collection, which currently has a number of pricey minipets in it. I've still got two Greaseds though, and that's the only mini I care about at this point. Everything else can be re-bought or replaced by cheap whites or something.
I'd hardly be mad, and I'm even less inclined to believe that ANet would do such a thing anyways.

why get mad about pixels?? it would been a waste of time i guess but mad?? no
Nerel
Yeah, that would be pretty annoying for folks who have crafted all the armor sets, dedicated them and then deleted them... same for people who decided not to hold onto a collection of dedicated minipets (aka inventory eaters).
I seriously doubt Anet would do that however, short sighted and seemingly incompetent they might be at times, but I doubt they'd be willing to piss off so many people who by their actions (HoM stuff) have indicated an interest in moving on to GW2.
Side note... Bob! Why no HoM love? Not interested in GW2, or just not interested in grindy crap to fill your HoM?

Kook~NBK~
It would suck, but I don't think it'll be a problem. The HoM is a record of the deeds you've done and the items you've collected, not the deeds or items themselves.
Ben-A-BoO
Practically it wouldn't make sense from a gameplay perspective.
Theoretically it doesn't make much sense to me either:
Like Kook~NBK~ said: The HoM is a record of your deeds and achievements, not the 'real' items. It's more like you leave a replica there of them, since you still carry them around when you leave the HoM after dedication.
Guild Wars 2 is set roughly 250 years later. Most of the things in your HoM is museum type stuff. Neat to look at but you nothing you wanna wear in a battle to protect you after all the years of collecting dust.

I would be furious, I bought expensive minis just to dedicate them and Re-sell.
YES I would be MAD.
YES I would be MAD.
Marty Silverblade
Well, I've kept everything, but I can't see any logical reason why we wouldn't get the bonuses if we got rid of some of it along the way. That would bother me, but the only thing I would ever consider getting rid of is minipets, but I basically filled mine with cheap whites, so it's not too much of a big deal.
Martin Alvito
Doing that would be seen as changing the rules after the fact. It would legitimately make players mad.
Andemius
I'd be more annoyed if i actually didicated minis. I don't, since it kills the value, but if you ended up with no real reward in GW2 it'd be a bit of a kick in the teeth for everyone who does dedicate.

Having said that, I would not be mad, sad, happy or have any type of emotion. After you realize that Guild Wars is just a game, you tend to brush off potential bullsh!t like that and just move on.
Dewshine Wildclaw
I would lol :P
Ok not really, I can understand that many sell the minies after dedication.
I keep everything though... when I dedicate a mini it's like it is the final act to make it all mine. Does not matter to me that the value if I wanted to sell dies cause I sure as hell would not sell anyway. I only sell minies I happened to get 2 or more of. And I never buy minies that are already dedicated, cause I don't feel they are truly mine.

Sure, it's just a game...but it's also an ongoing business relationship. When someone you're in a relationship with makes a clear commitment and then doesn't follow through on it, anger is the appropriate response.
EPO Bot
Why would you buy a dedicated mini anyway? They don't have any appeal for me.
Nerel
I presume some people would be upset due to the amount of time and effort they spent completing their HoM, not everyone buys gold or benefited from duping you know...
Eragon Zarroc
meh, slightly annoyed but the only thing i would be missing really is a bunch of white and purple mini-pets.
caballo_oscuro
I don't think this is going to be an issue since the dedicated item and the record of it being dedicated in the hall of monuments are separate entities. They've said it before (as far as I know Gaile has said it a long time ago but it's been reiterated in several publications) that you don't need to keep the items in storage once they've been dedicated to the HoM, which is why you can trade away dedicated minis for example.
Plus this'd make more sense from a technical standpoint as it's alot easier to list the entries as separate lines in a database table, they don't need the actual item, it is after all just a different piece of data.
So I can't see this being an issue.

Since the benefit of dedicating items in GW1 is likely to be significantly less than the value of said dedicated piece (including titles, which are expensive in terms of time spent) I think there's going to be mad people anyway.

No...
I think the rewards for your HoM in GW2 will be inconsequential cosmetics.
I think a full display on each monument is all that is needed.
I don't think there will be extra rewards for having more than 20 minipets, more than 11 weapons etc.
I don't think quality will matter - 20 limited/gold/green minis won't count for anything more than 20 white minis.
Anyone who thinks differently... well you might be right in the end. But you could also be setting yourself up for a big disappointment, and doing a lot of grind for nothing.
I just did the minimum needed to fill my HoM. Any extras that are in there, are from things I did for my own enjoyment, or my own sense of achievement, or things that fell into my lap (eg. birthday presents).
If I need to actually have the mini's, armors, weapons etc still in my posession... I won't get mad. I'll just buy/craft them again. Won't cost much cos I didn't bother with anything expensive to start with.
In any case - personally, I suspect that getting any HoM rewards at all will involve linking your GW2 account to an NCsoft master account. In which case I am already prepared to get NOTHING for my HoM. Because unless there's some other VERY compelling reason to do it - I will avoid linking to a master account like the plague.

I could not care less. I keep it all.

What me pisses of is that i get banned for botting while i dont use bots.
And The GM's of NCsoft do nothing about it.
They are really incompentent and have no clue what they doing

I still have all the stuff that I put in the HoM (on mules et al) so that wouldnt bother me in the slightest....(having to have them all on the character that put them in their would since 20 minis, 11 weapons, 5 sets of armor would take up my entire inventory spaces!)
not a problem in my book
(and some people just like the mini pets---they dont give my rats behind about the HoM so buying dedicated minis is just fine for them)

I really don't think there is going to be any advantages to haveing a HoM other than keeping your names and maybe getting something special that you can't trade or sell anyway.

Benderama
definetley. though Anet are one of the few companies that don't have spontaneous bouts of idiocy so we should be fine. it would also make little sense to have all ancestors named the same. and the HoM achievements are meant to be account wide too.
Essence Snow

No, it would not make me angry. I have no expectations for the HoM, so any benefit is merely a bonus. It also would not apply, because I have all the dedicated items.
I expect a great deal of complaints whenever details of the rewards for HoM in GW2 are revealed. Some people seem to believe what they want rather than what is known, which is very little at this point. The rewards cannot possibly match up to their hype and expectations.

that wouldnt surprise me but might tick me off but just for a bit probably as long as the tourney did but hey i did return too decent of a game to not play seeing its free

I'd be pretty pissed. But then again, I refuse to dedicate ANYTHING until I know how the HoM will work and what will be beneficial (If anything) to bring over. I don't see A-net doing something like this, but if it happened I'm sure there'd be public lynchings.
