hello ppl~
i just bought all series of guildwars and rdy to play!
however, i couldnt decide what profession i should choose to play with.
i looked some professions at gw site and it seems like Dervish looks cool to me@_@
but i am not sure if they are good for farming, cuz i want char with good farming skill.
i am planning to have first char as farmer and seond char as pvp.
so if u guys have some suggestions about good profession for farming, plz reply~
or link me the site where i can follow.
thanks you~have good day
What class would be good for new player?

Well, you should probably try to play through all the campaigns with a character that you think you will enjoy 1st. after that, you will have a better feel for the game. Then you could make a charcter specifically for farming later on instead of having to drag a character that you may not like that much through campaigns.
as for pvp chars, it is best to have one slot that can be deleted and remade constantly that you can use to switch profession in pvp if you have to. provides more versatility.

Essence Snow
Ritualists are pretty easy to play, have many farming options, are versitile, and have very strong general PvE options.
Assasins remain as very viable farming profession due to SF (shadow form), mainly viable in speed clears.
Monks are also good farmers although they have taken a huge hit with the nerf of 600/smite.
I would not recommend making a Dervish as your 1st character. Until Dervs get a buff, they remain as one of the least effective professions in the game.

Trader of Secrets
Choose a profession that would be fun to use in general pve and can get you some cash. Sin if you want to play melee, plenty of SF farms and many clear builds. Ele caster class, plenty of solo farms and some clear builds. Rit another caster, pretty much a solo class by itself and used but not in demanded a lot for clears.
Good reason to choose one of these three is because you would play through the story and get those pve allegiance titles for those pve only skills, useful for farms and clears.

MESMER! Just kidding. My first toon was a Ranger and I loved it. In my experience a Ranger or Warrior would be one of the better starting classes. They purpose is versitile and simple to understand. Plus you don't have to worry about all the additional damage that might frustrate someone not used to caster's low armor ratings.

hi there,
you should make a warrior, thats my opinion, i had a nceromancer first, but then i made a warrior, wich is still my main (delted necro). for beginners, they are a good choise, its not boring at all , you got the most armor so you will die not so fast. you got good choise of weapons, sword, axe, hammer warriors are even good with a scythe, spear and daggers aswell!
the thing is you don't got so many solo farms. mostly some hundred blades
in speed clears, but i think you won't have to do that soon cause u need some exp.
and skills for that.
after you got max. armor/weapons you should make an assassin.
they are a great choise, but they die quickly.
these guys can farm alot and can do much damage in a few seconds.
i think overall meelee is the best option, strong, powerfull and not boring at all! lots of action and some farms aswell... but its still your choise.

My first character was a Ranger, my second was a Warrior. Both are excellent for first time through the game. Try one of each, you can't go wrong.
For comparison, I also have a Dervish and yes they do look cool. My Dervish has all the Dervish skills and I have played him a lot of different ways.
Problem is the Dervish derives a lot of his power and defense from enchantments. If you run into something that can strip those enchantments or suck your energy you are in big trouble.
Warrior by contrast is just solid as a rock. If something sucks his energy, he still has adrenaline skills and vice versa. If groups can suck both, you still have the armor to stand there and just wail away on the target with your trusty sword, axe, or hammer. Warriors can use spears too! And, horribly enough, Warriors are more effective with a Scythe than the Dervish!
Tip for Any Melee Class: Pick up a Longbow or a Flatbow, any kind, it is not for damage. Stick it in weapons slot 4. Use it for pulling so you only get one group after you where two groups are close together.
When out with heroes and hench solo, with some kinds of foes who have a lot of casters it is often better to begin combat with a couple shots with your bow. You will not do more than a couple points of damage, but you will get your group attacking. Take a hench warrior along. No reason you should take all the heavy caster flack when that is what a hench warrior is designed to do. Then go in with your melee weapon.
