Heck, in real life, most of the things you learn in Ninjutsu are how to counter blows. But a warrior? All they know is how to slice a guy's head off with a big sword.

Furthermore, in fantasy depictions, ninjas are usually shown as being able to multiply themselves and create illusions for enemies to miss. So I don't see why shadowform was farfetched from a lore perspective. And for PvE, it's still a pretty damn good skill! To be a bit more accurate, in ninjitsu (at least koga ninjas) they believe no moves should be wasted, so they have no blocks.. they use offense in a defensive manner, so they hit an incoming attackers hand instead of blocking.

And sins shouldn't really be that associated with ninjas / ninjitsu, they are loosely based on ninjas if you will. In general ninjas were spys with combat experience, not warriors that knew how to spy...

...and you mean in naruto they are depicted as being able to create copies of them self, its more accurate to say in contemporary j-fantasy they create a dummy of them self so the enemy can attack it as they get away / deliver a fierce blow then escape. Which is more akin to the skill "Smoke Powder Defense", the only ninja in guild wars in my opinion is yuri the hand he is based on real deal contemporary j-fantasy ninjas including masks to scare / psyche out the opponent before they do anything...

Here is yuri from the bonus mission pack

I was very disappointed that sins were not ninjas and did not have more "ninja-esque" armor... but still my main is a sin, I've used her from everything from casting, pbaoe spamming, healing if need, scything, hammering, spearing, and death blossoming, I would say that sins are the most versatile class in the game, not the best in one area, but jacks of trades if you will.

yeah agree it looks like OP is trolling, or incredibly uninformed

crit scyther is amazing, my favorite phys build for the last year and one I often bring when a heavy duty, no screwing around build is needed in a group

I seriously question the intelligence of anyone who says the massive amounts of AoE and single target damage assassin's can pump out is useless.

Im playing Assassin as main char, since Factions come out...
Im able to play EVERYWHERE, and i got no problems - im mastered my skills with the profession. Those 90% who cant handle this profession, just chose another one.

Assassins @ PVE can be AWESOME...

assassins 100% useless in pve? jeez, do people STILL believe this?

i'd thought people would've smartened up by now. it's sad to see that after almost a year of absence, nothing changes.

Troll or just a tard, any class in gw is just as useless as the player playing it. So get good or get over it, its just a game.

When I was leveling my sin to become a perma pre-nerf, I used the Death Blossom spam build and was dumbfounded by the amount of damage I was throwing out.
The only reason I'm letting him collect dust is because, although he was awesome at it, I still find Assassins to be painfully boring to me. I might give him another go, however. It'd be a waste not to!

Which would be the best choice in PvE?

Critical agility + flashing blades
Critical agility + I am unstoppable
Way of the assassin + critical defenses

You know what sin elite I LOVE, it's [Wastrel's Collapse]. Basically it's a shadowstep that causes knockdown.

From the things he said, I meant.

Besides, you use critical EYE over critical agility..? yeeeah..guess you don't like +25 armor from agility. Besides, I myself use all, Crit Eye, Crit Agility, WotA and "SY!"/"IaU." The rest of the bar is Asuran scan and 3 attack skills. (You probs know which ones. xD)

Trying to un-retardo this thread.
I've been looking for a good elite for my DB spammer. Since this build is already amazing without any elite it's tough to think of anything that'd make it even stronger.
Shattering Assault- might be okay, especially with asuran scan the damage is crazy.
Fox's Promise- cool, but situational. Not everywhere mobs have solid defensive skills.
Way of the Assassin- meh
Moebius Strike- don't really need it.
None of the shadow and deadly arts skills seemed particularly good, especially since you get less skill points on daggers and criticals.
Then I turned to warrior elites since I want to use SY!
Obviously most of them won't work, since they either require other weapon or are tied to strength.
And under non-linked I noticed Skull Crack.
Melee attack, 1/2, 9 adrenaline- 10 seconds daze is a pretty long time too. Didn't really test it out yet but seems promising.

Any thought on what elites might be good with DB spammer? Not necessarily A/W, generally.

As I said, I'm trying to un-retardo this thread. You're not really helping if you bring "awesome" skills like LF.
You're welcome.

How about try new things? get off PvX, make your own builds. speaking offfffffffff, I have an idea! Something different...

Assassin/Warrior!
12+1+1 Critical Strikes
12 Hammer mastery...

Asuran Scan
Crude Swing
Wirlwind Attack
Earth Shaker
Belly Smash
Critical Agility
Critical Eye
Optional(Save Yourselves, Dash, Deaths Charge, Ebon Escape, Drunken Master) though DM would be a waste with Critical Agility, so maybe Dash or SY!? Ebon Escape probably would be useless especially if the enemys are blinded (IF THEYRE MELEE)

Minor Crit Strikes, Nightstalkers Insignia on head
Superior Vigor, Survivor insignia on chest
Vitae, Infiltrators Insignia on arms
Vitae, Survivors insignia on legs
Clarity, whatever on feet

Zealous Hammer of Fortitude or Shelter with 15^50
Vampiric Hammer of Fortitude or shelter with 15^50
Sundering Hammer of Fortitude or Shelter with 15^50
Furious Spear of Fortitude, Shield of Fortitude 16 AL

Just something different...

Just something different... Hammer sins have been done before. They're outperformed by A/D because it's generally better to kill a mob rightout than to KD them.

And you forgot WotM.

Ahah, but its not for outperforming its something DIFFERENT and FUN.
I knew I forgot something!!! So optional is just WoTM.

If people wanna gogogogogo beat the campaigns, do everything as fast as possible then by all means A/D, Whatever hero builds, (prob Sabway) XD then thats cool but some people like to do different and new things.
And not get deathly bored by the same builds. Yes, I know that an Earth Shaker build is repetitive, butttt its different, which is my point.

It's funny how ridiculously easy NM PvE has become. I'm just blasting through EoTN right now with my sin hoping that Thackeray will give me a hero armor. I'm running my sin and a combination of an RoJ Monk, Channel Rit, and MM/Curses Necro and seriously, the same mobs that used to give me headaches when I first started a few years ago now just explode in two attack chains. It's awesome. Hero synergy FTW.

AScan + BuH + Fast attack chain + Crit Eye/WoTA = loldmg.

If I had 4 slots in my team for damage, I'd take 4 Assassins and pump out ~1000DPS.
