Is using Texmod or KSmod considered hacking or cheating?
Emma Panzerbergen
With the recent account terminations, I just wanted to make sure. Is using Texmod for cartography or KSmod for better graphics considered breaking the EULA in any way? Thanks.

A-Net has no problem with you using Texmod/KSmod, though they are not responsible if you mess up your game in any way while using them.
Sierraa
They're fine but they're not responsible for the code, so they suggest if you're not sure about the creator's intent to stay away from it.

I think it would be particulary useful if an A-Net representative would give us the answer to the above questions, your answer does not reflect how A-Net thinks about the issues atm.
Especially with the recent account terminations...
Some official verifcation/statement from Anet regarding the 2 above programs (and especially texmod in conjunction with cartography mods) would be a very welcome sight. Also the course of action they intend to take towards players who have used the texmod cartography modifications.
Edit: Seeing as it is Anet's intention to ban 'cheaters' in any way, you could argue that cartography title inflation is caused by texmod, and could be considered cheating, although it is only a simple modification to graphic files.

a better question would be if any of the 3900 accounts that were banned were banned for using said programs. if i had to take a guess, i'd say no.

I'd like an answer to this too. I'm using texmod for carto and for the dark glass mod, and haven't been banned - yet. I'd like to know if it's going to stay that way or if I need to stop using it.

From the other thread:
Quote:
You use third party programs at your own risk. We are not responsible if the programs you download contain content that changes the original code of that program, which may incur a ban. In its original state, programs like Multi Launch or Texmod, will not fall afoul of the banhammer, however changes to those programs, instances where people have modified the original code--there are no guarantees. We do not provide any support whatsoever for third party programs.

Whats GWstats? a g15 applet?
Eragon Zarroc
no, it is not considered cheating. but using third party programs can put u at risk to being hacked by others

Probably the wrong place to post this, but would anyone mind linking the TRUE and HONEST TexMod and MultiLaunch? Since GWx2 wasn't on Emily's "safe list", I'd like to switch.

I love Emily. That's about as much of an official answer that you're going to get unless you'd like to ask on the wiki.
I'll go ahead and close this so it's not buried in speculation and whining.
