Question about Banned Friends

I have noticed that some of my friends have not been online today. They still show up as offline on the friends list but my question is...If they were banned would they still show up on the list as offline or would there name disapper?

I don't think banned peoples accounts are deleted so they will probably still be on your friends list.

The ban is actually a block of the account. The account is not deleted from the server. This means that all characters still exist, but cannot be accessed. Therefore, they still show up on your friends, ignore, or guild list.

BUT! You can't add a banned account to your friends list. If they are showing as off-line remove them from your friends list. If you can add them back they aren't perma-banned. If it says the name doesn't exist they are gone.

EDIT: I've made a try with a friend banned for sure, I can add him to the friend list, so it doesn't work as you say.
Now I wonder how to know if some of my friends have been banned or not, anet should publish a list of banned char names (the most active for each account should be enough) in my opinion.

The characters name will remain their. The account still exists, just access to it has been blocked. This is known to be true because once a person has been banned, their character names cannot be taken by other people. They remain taken. Idk what Another Felldspar is talking about

So it is not possible to know if a friend is banned or just not logging in?

not unless that person specifically tells you he/she is banned through means of communication other than guild wars.

Ok thank you all for your time and responses. Im not sure if this is allowed but If anyone on here is Friends with Dylock Strife PM me here if you were banned so i know and can remove your name. lol.
