The Concept, and Intro
I've been playing for 4(+change) years now and frankly... I'm f**kin bored... but I'm able to make roughly 60k a week on top of what I need/desire. I realised recently that I love builds, and thats the reason I've stayed soo long, but I don't just love normal builds I in fact despise builds that are meta for example, as they've stripped all the fun out of the game (for me atleast, this doesn't apply to everyone), I love builds that are less commonly used, and designing work-arounds for specific challenges I present myself with.
So I decided that instead of simply posting my idea's and getting 0 recognition and infact being insulted because I purposely ignore the meta (see above for reasoning) I decided to make a competition out of it and see what others can achieve while having fun.
Every 2 weeks (May be shortened, if others step in to add to the pot, or take enough interest to make this into a guild/alliance operated idea instead of just me), I will be making a new thread throughout the forums (linked at bottom) with that weeks challenge (e.g. spear + pet on a ranger primary was the test basis for this idea), there will be a set reward (to be determined fully), donated entirely by me at the moment, the builds will go through rigorous testing and will be tested based on several factors, weighed as a percentage of the total(see judging factors). All of which will result in a grand prize, a 2nd place prize, and a 3rd place prize which include a summary of my findings about the top 3 builds and why I chose them.
The Rules:
1. Must be fun to play. (will be determined by me)
2. Must be a viable build.
3. Must be made for general pve meaning non-specialized. (not for dungeons though if it can be used for such in addition to general pve, or with minor tweaks the better)
4. Must be a stand-alone build. (meaning it can be used with any H/H team universally to same effect)
5. First person to post the build earns the prize if multiple people post the same build. (the others will be disqualified, minor tweaks will be counted as the same build, that being said if 1 skill is changed but it causes a huge change in play-style it can count as a different build altogether)
6. Only 1 submission per player per competition will be accepted as a submission (if you wish to change your submission simply edit your post)
7. Submissions must be posted in their respective thread(s) BEFORE the due-date and a copy of the above rules MUST be sent to me via private message, which includes your in-game name, on this website. (in case the thread becomes chaotic and I'm unable to find it)
8. Submissions must include either a (proper) Link, or a template code.
Judging Factors: (marked out of 38)
Judging will be rated as if they were marks on a test (oh not not school again!?!) They will be marked evenly with absolutely 0 bias (no matter how friendly you get it's not gonna get you f**k all)
1. Fun to play? -> speaks for itself, is the build fun or is it beyond belief BORING!!! (Marked out of 11)
2. Ingenuity -> How unique is the build, is it like nothing I've ever seen or is it more common than bee's in a beehive?(Marked out of 8)
3. Effectiveness -> How much can the build do? does it require assistance, such as a specific character or spell designated to helping it or does it require cons, or is it completely self-sufficient(best option)? (other undisclosed options varying based on role, and that weeks limitations) (marked out of 14)
4. Ease of use -> Is the build easy or hard to use? is it MASH BUTTONS!!!! or... use this button under these circumstances. (Marked out of 5)
Idea's for Future prizes:
If you have a suggestion just PM me, but bare in mind, it has to be within my price-range (unless donated). Also bare in mind that it has to be generic. (meaning everyone can/would/could make use of it)
Getting involved:
Any help adding to the Prizes, or helping to promote is much appreciated (barring in mind this is currently a NOT FOR PROFIT deal so I may ask you to hold onto your donation for a later day to avoid any possibility of a scam via my hands, even by accident).
Guilds/Alliances: Have a representative contact me, name a few idea's and what/how your guild/alliance would like to contribute and whether it'd be lasting or a one-time deal.
Future Competitions?: (just ideas at this stage, in no particular order)
1. No Scythe Dervish primary
2. Damage dealing monk primary (No healing/protection spells, limited pve-only skills)
3. E/N cannot use elementalist damage skills.
4....
5. Profit!
Current Competition: (includes level of difficulty/end-dates)
End of series, due to lack of interest, and conflicting work schedule. (close this thread)
Past Competitions: (includes level of difficulty, and winners, prizes won, and date ended dd/mm/'yy)
Spear+pet+ranger primary(hard)(ended: 07/Jun/'10 @ 1700 UTC ) Note: This one was a proof of concept to see if this will even work prize winners are Magic wut huh asdf 1st, caster modded q9 zodiac sword (inscribable), Imaginos 2nd, 15k cash, and torpoon 5k cash prize.
Notes about trolling:
If you wish to troll... DON'T... go elsewhere no one wants to hear it, this is a friendly competition no need to bicker and say stupid shit. (I would be very thankful if the moderators were to assist me in removing troll posts)
Notes about commenting:
If you have anything to say about others builds you will be ignored especially if it's negative, if you have suggestions and want to help them adjust their build feel free to do so as they may give you some of their prize (especially if you do it in a kind/friendly manner)
Notes about entries:
-Pictures help alot especially showing the build in action.
-Self healing may or may not considered depending on other aspects of the build.
-Post whatever ya got, sometimes wacky builds turn out better than you expect, so be open minded, someone might post a suggestion to your build and have it turn out great.
-Using PvX Decode can make your build alot more... me-friendly
-I WILL be asking for your IGN, so I know who to contact when the time approaches to pick the winner. (only in pm's to avoid any privacy shinanigans, don't ask me how..)
-Remember to PM me the builds (Link or template code format) on THIS website so they don't get lost and forgotten in the clutter (if any). *That being said you only need to send me the build, runes required and a minor description of intended use, most other information is irrelevant*
General Notes:
-Competitions may be ended-abruptly, or extended due to money issues, work, or a complete lack of interest (if this is the case prizes may be skipped).
-The prizes will unfortunately be low(for now), due to the current lack of support. (it's still only week 1 shesh)
Pm me or post if you have queries, comments, concerns, or suggestions.

Luminarus
I love this idea, coz I like to create my own builds that are fun. For instance right after the release of eotn, (before discord was popular) I was running whats basically become the standard AP caller on my monk for fun on a non discord based team. I still run dum stuff like that from time to time coz its fun.
And the irony is that I posted it and everyone laughed at me. Less then 3 months later every man and their dog was using it or similar to run discord and blow through the game.
Can I make a suggestion that no vetted pvxwiki builds be submitted? Otherwise youll get people rushing in to copy a fun vetted wiki build.

Oh no I'll allow vetted builds to be entered but their gonna loose BIG points on ingenuity, and funness of play (15-19 pts lost out of a total of 38)
Oblivious Moose
Count me in. Being creative with my builds is the only thing keeping me stuck to the game ^^
