Awhile back I got this shield as a drop and was shocked when I saw the gold value.

Many years ago I remember there were a few collectors of items with a gold value over 500. This is clearly much higher and does not have the added value inscription. With that added its worth over 670 gold. I know there are some screens of items like this on other forums throughout the world but it would be nice to see whats actually around today within the guru community.

Post anything you have with a gold value over 500.

This could be FUN !!!

Iv seen couple of those in past. I think I stumbled a 640g shield that I sold to merchant. I don't ss to prove it rarly use my screenshot.

This Iridescent Aegis is by far the highest I have seen. A perfect "Smtm!" could increase it to 695.

Highest ones I got are these:

(modded with perfect +75g)

One thing that has to be mentioned here is that ALL the abnormally high value gold items come from the Nightfall Treasures - those are set up differently and produce items at exceptionally high gold values, even as unids they can be above 70g whereas drops anywhere else never exceed 57g. Even Purples from NF Treasures have higher value, I got one at 280g I think, no purple anywhere else can be anywhere that high.

I estimate a theoretical maximum for NF treasure golds can be 672g (unmodded), but that would be a very rare occurence.

So when NF treasures simply beat everything else by about 50%, how about finding the highest value gold items that are definately NOT from those? (for example oldschool items). Above 440g it starts getting really rare for the oldschools.

Hmmm... found that bow on my ranger (never looked at gold value lol):

I also have some noninscr Staves with a Goldworth of 420-450 Gold.... And I'm pretty sure i had a Divine Staff with ~550g Value (without SMTM) too.... but not sure where i put it. might look for it later...

Highests ive found were r8 oni blade with 420 and r10 Ornate shield with 428

Also 3 staves with 420-430

Wow, those are really high for oldschool! Personally I can't remember seeing any gold weapon above 456g except for lots and lots from nightfall free treasure so those amaze me. I wonder where those came from as there might have been some special dropsource working differently than ordinary mob/chest drops in Tyria aswell. I would guess certain explorable unlocked chests/barrels (before SF update that added keyed chests) or the infamous Dreadnought's Drift Strongbox may have had different drop generation parameters aswell. Or do you maybe remember that Swamp Club coming from where almost all of them came from - Hell's Precipice chests?

Like many of my hammarz, these came from one place: other players who didn't know what they had.

I was under the impression that many Swamp Clubs came from Portal Wraiths outside ToA?

I do remember that it came from a free treasure in NF. I'm 90% sure it was Nightfallen Jahai.

had a few 500g+ noninscribables too earlier but guess i don't have any of them anymore....

Ok, since this probably isn't a large enough topic to start a new thread for ... and we already have this handy thread here which is semi-related ... and I can die knowing my life is complete if I derail another of Cleav's threads ...

Does anyone know the max amount of gold a foe can drop? I'd always thought it was something around 300g in HM and 200g in NM. A couple days ago, I was cruising through Raisu Palace in HM and that ele boss dropped 420g when it died. I took a screenshot, but I didn't realize until much later that I should've also taken another shot after picking it up showing the line about "party shares 420g" to prove beyond a doubt that I didn't simply put that money there myself to stage the shot.

Anyway, is a single foe, even a boss in HM, dropping over 400g normal? I don't ever remember seeing that much money drop before. Have I been killing really cheap red dots all these years?

I really don't think those high gold drops are uncommon from what I remember gold drops were figured based on the level of foe along with a sort of rarity system like regular drops. I see your in Hard Mode so that ele was level I wanna say 30 if I remember right. So thats gonna make it a decent amount to begin with so it's probably just the equivilent to a gold (as in item rarity) drop. I'm fairly certain I have seen at least 1 500+g drop before in hm nightfall somewhere.

Cool - a reason to rerun those NF Treasures on all characters! Beat that record shield!

In (my) theory a value of as high as 660g should be possible from Realm of Torment treasure. Start running from there, then Desolation, then lower.

For science: People running those please note/screenshot the items' gold value while still unidentified (check at a merch), also for purples (they get the same unid values as golds). Expect abnormally high unident values of 60-75g range or maybe even higher, which is unique to these drops.

I did some research on treasures and gold values as well: max unid value form nf realm of torment treasure (and max unid value possible in game) is 80g.
When identifying it there is a random number from 1 to n-1 (where n is unid gold value). Then it is multiplied by 1 for blue items, by 2 for purple and by 4 for gold items. After this the "show me the money" insc is added, which adds +50...+75. Thus max gold value on gold item should be (80+79)*4(+75)=636(+75)(=711) and on purples (80+79)*2(+75)=318(+75)(=393). On blues it would be (58+57)*1(+75)=115(+75)(=190) and same on whites - except from the (+75) - as whites ar uninscr. (as blue and white won´t drop from nf treasures and can thus max have 58 unid value dropping from lvl 23 mobs).

Chances for any of these are extraordinarily low, gl tho! (I ran those treasures ~50 times and got one single 80g unid item - which for sure didn´t have the max after id...)
