Spellcasting Eye Candy

I realize this may be a matter of personal aesthetics, but I am new to the game and I was wondering if there was a general consensus on which spellcasting profession has the most visually striking spell animations. It's far from the only factor I will take into account in deciding what profession to level first, but I must admit to enjoying it when the spells have a certain aesthetic "wow" effect, visually. Any clear winners in this regard?

i would say that elementalist fire magic and other elemental magic of the ele profession has the most "WOW"-factor when casting ;-)

Monk gets you blue stuff around you, so not that WOW.
Mesmers get purple stuff, on targets and on you, some are cool but still not that WOW.
Elementalist have really showing spell effects, like Unsteady ground, Lava flont, Fire Storm etc. Probably the best WOW factor.
Necromancers get minions (not that WOW ) and green stuff, not all that exiting. Looks like your poluting imo
Ritualist has some cool spells, can summon Spirits which look shit, and hold ashes which look ok, but all the same.

So yeah Elementalist is the best WOW, like EZ ninja'd me to it.

Are you sure Eisengrim meant "WoW" effects as in the game and not "wow" as in "wow that's cool" ?

Anyway, spell effects in GW (from what I've noticed) aren't as bombastic as in other games. But elementalists have the more visually conspicuous spells.

Not a spellcasting per se, but I rather like the sound and visuals of you hitting a bunch of enemies while wielding a Splinter Weapon. Gives a very distinct effect.

I'd say out of the whole game, paragon have the best looking skills. But with spells I'd say necro, have you seen hexers vigor?

I love some of the asuran spells from eotn, Pain inverter got a nice animation, and it fits well in most builds. But ofc its irrelevant if you are going pvp.

While the spell effects might not be as good as the ele, the mesmer certainly has the most "flair" when casting.

Light of Deldrimor title track skill from Eye of the North is my favorite. Meteor Shower, ele, looks good too. Dust Trap, ranger, has a really great acoustic.

In general, though, GW does not put a lot into individual dramatic skill animations. Reason is when you get a full party of 8 with 3 heroes and 4 henchmen attacking a mob heavy with casters there is a lot of sound and special effects going off and it is better to see what you are doing than be blinded by the light.
