I have been wondering, is it better to identify your golds and salvage any decent mods and sell them, or just sell them unidentified and get your 5k for 7?
I am talking pure profit involving golds that would get vendored without the mods, say for example, the ones you usually get from the Nightfall treasures.
p.s. Is using a perfect salvage kit always worth it when removing a mod from a gold so you can vendor the gold itself afterwards?
Thank you for any help.
Sell to unid golds or id them and salvage?

- don't care about the gold ID title yourself, and
- don't know/don't care to spend the time to learn the ins-and-outs of the player-to-player market
Getting a feel for what mods are worth the time and space to hang onto for resale takes some time. Even if you save those up, you'll have to stand around watching trade spam and/or list them for sale on a fansite to find buyers. In my experience, there are only a few mods these days where you can safely say you're likely to find a buyer immediately in Kamadan. The list tends to change rather often, too.
In my experience buying unid golds, I ID them. Then I sell any valuable insignia and runes to the trader. I keep any mods or weapons that strike me as worth the effort to try and sell (granted, I may have more patience for player-to-player trade than average.) Then I merch the rest. The only times I come close to breaking even are when there was a particularly nice weapon to resell.
So based on my own experience, I think the max. profit to be had comes from selling the unids on average.

If the IDed gold in question has more merchant value than 1/5 of the above cost, then you come out ahead keeping the IDed gold to sell to the merchant.
Personally, I never bother using perfect salvage kits unless I want to be sure to keep the item or the remaining attached mod(s.)

You should be able to estimate potential gains from identifying the item, select few may be better identified than sold at bulk unid price. There are many many factors to it, many more than I'd like to describe. A lot of it comes from experience.
As for using Perfect Salvage I wouldn't use it unless the item or another mod on itwas worth at least a solid 2k.
You should do a calculation of expected value, for example if the item is 300g to merch and your chance to break it is 25% then on average after an expert salvage (16g per use) you're left with 209g net worth (75% of the item value minus salvage cost). If you used a Perfect salvage instead, which costs around 200g to use, you'd only be left with 100g of net value (100% of item value minus salvage cost). Simple?

Max Profit Method:
1) Equip Unid Item
2) Find out mods
3) If desirable mods, ID/Salvage them and sell
4) If no noticeable or desirable mods, sell in Unid Pack
Mods that are easy to look for:
+5energy
+30 health
+20% enchants (although could also be 19% enchants)
vamp
zealous
Forget me not(19% can still be sold for a good amount)
Probably more...

Ever since I maxed Wisdom I've been selling non-rare unidents to others, but I have been hanging on to my unident armors and letting a friend ID them. The chances of getting a rune/insig worth more than ~700g seems worth it to me. I think I make more having my unident armors ID'd then sold to NPC than selling as unidents. But I could be wrong...

option 1
u are to curious ... then keep it or let someone id for u (u also get paid for that and have all mods / weps)
option 2
just sell the common stuff, don't think about any mods that could be in ...
did also the "try to see what kind of mods are in" thing .... but if u have regularly 2 toons or so full of unidents u kinda get bored.
cheers

The wisdom title is quite easily a self financing title but I would say that if you not interested in that then you are just aswell selling them for 5k a bundle . It takes alot of time and effort to sell the mods and wont make you that much more than selling the unids unless you are lucky. Apart from a few types mod prices have pretty much dropped to nothing.
If you do decide to salvage then I never bothered with perfect kits unless an item had 2 valuable mods (2-3k minimum) that i could take from it. Mods were salvaged 7/10 times using a standard expert kit without destroying the item.
Also never sell your inscribable unids for less than 5k/7 and never sell any Ruby items , buy Measure for Measures for 300gp each and salvage the items for crafting material, the amount of rubies i got like that was great
