Me/

Recently I have had the great allowance of some extra time on my hands, and to fill it, I have decided to begin doing art commissions again. In posting here, I am mainly interested in art exchanges to honor my beloved GW girls, as I am not as heavy a GW player as I once was and have most of the goodies I need. Though in game gold can be offered as there are a few items my girls were hoping to get before I left Tyria forever. Yasmin, my mesmer was privileged enough to get a beautiful portrait done and she is interested in more. But I don't want to leave out my beloved ele either!

I've been drawing from before I can remember. I have competed and won several art shows in the Sacramento, California area. My work has been featured in some Duran Duran fanzines and I have been commissioned by one person in particular...below is my signature portrait of Simon Le Bon, the lead singer for my favorite band Duran Duran:

And me delivering the piece to the happy customer, the Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon himself!

Below are varied examples of my style, and a link to my deviantART page
http://yasminparvaneh.deviantart.com/

My portfolio contains my signature art style which I call "Manila works". Each drawing by me is done on manila paper (commonly used as file folders) as I like the way the paper smudges when blending pencils with blend sticks and kleenex. I use basic no. 2 pencils, prismacolor pencils, crayola crayons, felt markers and black ink to produce my works. I love people--their expressions and faces--so portraits of faces, celebrity or otherwise, tend to be my main subjects.

Though I also do more traditional pen and ink styles. The Manila Works take longer than the pen and ink styles with similar detail or in comic book style.

A manila style portrait of my mesmer Yasmin

My ele Dahalia

Tommy's Monk Lucy

RussianSteven's Ranger Gladiator

Perynne's Dervish Cassia

Submit character images here for me to review. I'm looking for motion, action, a story behind your character and photographic like images of them that I can bring to life.

For exchanges, below are links to images of the girls.
Dahalia my shy, but girl-next-door pretty ele. Dahalia loves drinking contests (she's an ale hound!) and her bff Vekk.

Yasmin my seductive, feisty and battle ready mesmer.
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...omposition.png
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ssie_sword.jpg

Zelda my adorable, tiny little prot monk.
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...omposition.png

Rydia my poised and wild-child ranger who finds her home among the wilds with her beloved lynx Willoughby.
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...omposition.png

If you are interested, don't feel afraid to inquire about prints or even celebrity portraits, as you can see on my deviant page, celebrity art is my forte! I can be contacted here via this thread, on GWW
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:Yasmin_Parvaneh or via my deviantART page linked above. Though other types of non-GW related art should be directed at my other pages. Happy posting!!

WOW So cool. Ok. Me. Speachless Lucy:

Ok, so now I will give myself the time to read your post, and edit mine where needed

A very nice gallery you got there. The portrait of le Bon is really good. Reminds me of Elizabeth Peyton, you seem to have quite a familiar style. So if you ever are interested in drawing a face, which you can make your own characteristics, I present you Lucy ^^ Seeing you like to draw from photo's and draw a particular face, maybe it's a nice thing for you to try and actually create characteristics! But if you want to know someone who she would look the most at, that would be Gwyenth Paltrow (suprisingly enough ). Oh damn she is so good in The Royal Tenenbaums (for the ones that have not seen is, go and see it! ).

I would be interested in an art-trade, preferably one with black and white ink/pencil work since I really love your black and white style. You can see examples of my work in my thread: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/p...t10440144.html

I would be interested in getting my dervish Cassia Fangrin drawn.

She is very young at the start of Nightfall, following in her older sister Aurora Fangrin's footsteps (also a dervish). When Abaddon is defeated, her sister gains local fame and is satisfied. However, Cassia is left wondering about her existence, and how she cannot return to the life she once led. She feels that she has not achieved enough yet, that she is not as great as her sister (who in her mind, did most of the work in defeating Abaddon). Leaving her homeland behind, she journeys to Tyria and Cantha looking for answers. In her mind, she is always stuck trying to be as good as her elder sister, always striving to prove herself worthy, never reaching that unattainable goal she has set for herself.
After the events of EotN, she finally finds some peace in the company of Norn, who are warriors like her and who respect her personal strength instead of the valor and fame she has gained.

I will take more screenshots of her for you if you're interested.

I really LOVE your pen and ink comicbook style particularly the last one. I am interested in an art trade if you'd allow me to color the final work as a collaboration piece at some point in time (full credit for ink and pencils to you of course!). A special request is that I'd like the art to be at least 1000 pixels in height (the bigger the better) for easier coloring/rendering later on

As for the trade: I'd be willing to do either of these if you think they are reasonable. The first option is obviously the faster one. If you have something else in mind feel free to let me know. I am flexible as long as the timeline will not be an issue:

1. I will color (w/background) one of your pencils/ink drawings of your choice.

Here are my latest art as a reference of my coloring (and drawing) style:
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/...F19199034&qo=0

http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/...roguemina&qo=2

2. Digital drawing (portrait/half body/full body - depending on which one you choose to do for me) no background/simple background.

As for the character I wish for you to draw. It's this one (a spin off of my mesmer who looks exactly like yours lol):

Quote:

Reference Picture:
http://roguemina.deviantart.com/art/...F19199034&qo=1

Name: Mina

Description: A skilled illusionist with a temper to match. Mina has always been a mystery to both her opponents and even to her closest friends. She refuses to show her inner feelings and vulnerabilities, thinking that knowing one's weakness is the ultimate weapon against any opponent.

Despite all of this, Mina is very protective of her friends even if it means having to risk her own safety or her own life. Her Guild Wars version (Don't draw her GW version . Just thought I'd share how I our mesmers look like twins lol):

I wouldn't request for you to put me in the priority list at this time though since I still got a queue. But I have a DeviantArt page and, if you want, we can add each other in our friends/watch list so we can keep in touch!

http://roguemina.deviantart.com

I'll let you know once I am ready to start on your piece if you decide to go through with the art trade so you wouldn't have to wait forever for me to do my part.

Thanks for reading my long post ^_^" *tends to babble a lot*

Eragon is a warrior who has fought fiercely for his country. He lives for battle and the destruction his sword brings to his enemies. He is fierce and bitter and a scowl never leaves his face except for the times it is twisted in rage or yelling in blood-frenzy. He is an experienced veteran of war and has the many scars to prove it.

It would be cool if you could draw him in a furious rage.

I'd love to do a collaboration, that's something I have not done yet in my career. We can get into more details via pm's to our plan.

Here is my beginning sketch idea for Tommy's monk

The image is a manila work, but the scanner I have here at my office doesn't show color. My scanner at home will show the product much better.

Lol love the small earring, now showing better, and how you do the hair next to the ear. Btw what do you draw this with? Looks very dark, like ink to me, but I assume you scetch first.

Its pencil in different degrees of heavy pressing and light pressing. I go over areas with ink to hold the darkest lines, then use the pencil again to do degrees from black to grey. It will look a lot like the Nicole Kidman and Simon Le Bon pieces, which shows the work in the more bare state.
The flower in the hair is colored as will be her hair, eyes, shirt collar and lips. The scan doesn't show it very well. Even though I kinda dig the dark scan...I might use a similar scan for my project with Raven.

*frantically looks through Rydia's queue* If I am not mistaken, I am the only one with a mesmer request maybe I am being presumptous and just gonna embarrass myself but I really hope that's my mesmer lol! Looks beautiful already! *_*

Also I need to know if you want a digital drawing or a full color/render as a trade

Oh do you have a pic of that near full body pic commission you did? I really like your style. The Manila ones look like something that would look good framed in an entertainment room of a house. ^_^

I still don't have a grasp of how long I can do art. I spend like thirty minutes to an hour on a weekday and sometimes whole afternoon for a weekend.

I am planning to finish Omens' commission this weekend so I might be able to start on yours next week. Since I will be doing a portrait for you it would be something that I can do on top of another commission. Portraits are within my comfort zone although I know I haven't been doing them a lot lately cos I am practicing anatomy and my commissions are usually full body ones lol

Thanks a bunch! I really really like it!

I love the style of these. It sort of reminds me of old books with the sort of engraved pictures in them.

It has a very classic, timeless look to it. Looking forward to seeing more

Generally scanning at 300 dpi is enough to guarantee a good looking A4-sized drawing. 400-600 dpi is for A3, and so on. Scanning at higher than that makes for one huuuuuge picture. I wouldn't recommend going over 1200, there really should be no need to scan that high.
If it's just about the drawing looking too faint when you scan it, you can try to boost up black and white contrast in the scanner's own settings, or then use a simple image editing program where you can edit black and white Levels. For example,
Paint.net has that ability. Scanning at a higher resolution won't fix faint scan lines very well and it's just making you work with a drawing that's unnecessarily large.

@ Rydia: Eee, loving your drawings! I really like your style, it has a very personal touch to it. Can't wait to see more.
Also, just a suggestion on behalf of those of us with slow internet connection - would it be possible to have smaller versions of your drawings here for us to enjoy, and then pm the big ones to their respective people? My fiancee nearly throttled me yesterday for loading up this page and clogging up our internet connection for the next 15 min. The size at which you drew my dervish is still manageable, but Raven's mesmer and Mintha Syl's ranger were rather huge.
