Name Change Problem

simply put, i just deleted a character from my old account with the name that i want for my existing assassin(which is on the newer account) using the rename feature, but it keeps telling me the same name is still being used by another player. do note: i just deleted the character a couple of mins before i tried renaming my sin.

so here's my question: is there some sort of cooldown til the name can be used again after deleting, or is this a bug?

Yes, I believe there is a 24 hour delay before the name becomes available to a different account.

If it was the same account, you could re-use the name straight away after deleting the original.

It's to let you delete a character, and then re-roll it with the same name, without someone else taking your name in the meantime.

Actually I think you have to wait about 30 days.

I believe it's to prevent people from being reported and then simply deleting the character the account was linked to, as an example say an account buyer is spamming in Lions Arch, when he's reported (or every few hours) he deletes the character he's spamming on and creates a new one. In the mean time someone else uses the character name the bot / player was spamming on and is banned due to the character being reported.


Basically what I'm saying is I doubt it's 24 hours, I'd be surprised if it was 72 hours and you'll most likely be waiting until the next large update or 30 days from now however I hope it's 24 hours or you'll probably get pissed off and make a rant post.
