The full specs of your system would be helpful as well.
CPU, GPU, RAM, OS, etc.

Also do you have problems while playing other games?

it looks like you may have a corrupted gw.dat file - or overheating, but if it's overheating in GW it would do the same in Crysis for sure.

The are basically two ways to o that. The first one is to attempt to repair the file that is already on your hard drive.

See this link http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Comma...line_arguments on how to use command lines.

This one on the -repair http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line#-repair

Now if this doesn't work, you can try downloading a brand new gw.dat by reinstalling the game. I don't remember if when you delete only the.dat and launch GW it downloads a new one...

If your want to see if your card is overheating, you can download a program like HWmonitor (just do a google search, the program is made by CPUID) to monitor the various sensors in your computer.

One last thing, if you payed other games some time ago (by that i mean a month or more, which seems likely by your answer), you can always reinstall one and try to run it again. If you get similar issues, then your problem definitely isn't related to GW.

EDIT: you can always look at the other command lines, some are pretty neat (-email + -character + - password = auto login )

You can reinstall simply by changing the name of the Guild Wars dat file. For your system the file should be located in c:\program files\Guild Wars\gw.dat. Easest way is to right click the file, select Rename, press the home key located just to the left of your number pad, then enter an underscore (_), lastly; press enter. Then double click on GW.exe and it will start the download of a new dat file.
If you have problems with command lines you could always download the multi-launcher. It has a new feature that allows you to manage your command lines, you can even create multiple links for different command lines for the same game install. Cool stuff, they have done a great job.

as i see it it can be 3 things:

1) is corrupted gw files

2) ur graphix card has been oc'd/is overheating

3) ur graphix card is dying

solutions:

1) do the .dat thingie

2) check for temp, open up yer case, clean dust thouroughly, make sure ur fans all work, work on decent cable management and apply better cooling paste

3) if none of the above help ur screwed, do u still have warranty? else its time to buy a new card !

my 2 cents gl with it!

Sorry to say, but it's most likely your 8600gt dying. Mine did exactly the same after ~2 years and I have read many of these occasions on the forums. Google helps too.

you will need to download a temperature monitoring program and see what the temps are when playing GW or another game. I personally suggest www.lavalys.com and download their free version of Everest Ultimate.

Post the temperatures here:

No, you don't need to delete the old dat file. Renaming it is enough for the application not to be able to find it.

In reference to the CPUID screen shot showing temps. Is that idle temps or while running Guild Wars? If those are idle temps, when was the last time you cleaned out the dust inside your computer? All of those temps are high. If you were running Guild Wars or some other application that maxes out your computer they are still a little higher than they should be.
