New GPU - which one?
Abedeus
I'm considering upgrading my card to a new one. I bought a GeForce 9800GT about two years ago, and while it is pretty good, I managed to collect almost 750 PLN ($225) after my birthday. About 100-150 of that I have to spend on a new PSU (300W is a bit low, right?) and the rest would go to a new card.
However, the cheapest GTX cards from GeForce cost about 720 PLN and offer less power than ATI counterparts. Which model from Ati should I look at? 5770, 5750?
To make things easier for everyone, here's the shop I'm planning to visit. It's in Polish, but names are obviously original.

That Asus 5770 looks nice, but I don't know whether I should buy it or that 5750 with 1GB RAM. Would it be worth a bit slower performance?
I don't really want any 47xx or 48xx, since I'm looking forward to a good, DX 11 card so I won't have to upgrade any time soon again.

the 5750 won't off all that much more performance over your current 9800 GT - i't s essentially a 4850 which is a notch above the 9800GT (similar to the 9800GTX) - the 5770 is essentially a DX11 capable 4870 and is a good bit more powerful. Yes you will want a new PSU - a name brand 500watt or higher is what you should look for.

What about this?

I couldn't find a GTX465, but if you can find one at a decent price, that's also a great option.

the 5830 is a bit too hamstrung to be worth the price. if you are going for 5800 performance, save up a bit more and get a 5850.

Yeah, the 5850 costs about 500-600 PLN more than the 5750. Heck, twice the price... And 400 PLN more than 5770.
Guess I'll wait 2-3 months more for the prices to go down and/or cheaper cards to appear.

Check the prices on the GTX465. nVidia is pricing it very aggressively. It should be the same price as the 5770 in the next month or so, and absolutely bests it in performance.

But guess I'll have to wait and see which GPU will drop in price within the next 2 months or so.

Costs 1300 PLN. Even when my Godmother comes to visit me (and by that I mean +300 or 400 PLN) I won't have enough for it.

Europe overprices nVidia cards... jesus.....
It should be no where near that. According to conversion rates, the nVidia GTX465 should be ~740-750 PLN when it goes through it's price drop.

Don't know if it would be cheaper to import though...

yeah computer parts in Europe are a good bit higher than in the USA. North America has hands down the cheapest prices on components, although I've noticed that it varies from country to country, even on the same continent.

Okay, my magazine I subscribe just came in today. 5770 ranked pretty high, costs about 650 PLN and apparently, has maximum power usage exactly same as my 9800 GT. Difference in frequency and general power, almost twice more powerful. Oh, and DX 11.
Still, I guess I'd better come over to the local store and ask them about more details. I do know that all other cards that are better, that is - all GeForce 9800GTX+ and higher or 49xx are pretty much over 900PLN.
Thanks for help everyone.

The 5770 is great card, though it's not exactly stellar in DX11 performance. Looks like prices in Europe surprise yet again, but this time in the opposite manner.
