Ok so..

I have a friend that is running a w/e set up right now. I have a rit/a and a d/a. just hit lvl 20 on my rit and really have no idea on what to do for skills and such at 20 but i'm sure i will figure that out. dervish is lvl 17. I enjoy playing both of these classes but what would be your opinion on the best one for teaming up with my friend and also doing some solo farming maybe once i figure some other things out about the game?

Your Rit can play a better support role than your Derv but both professions can solo farm. You can find a lot of builds here:

Rit is best for teaming up, SoS makes it in demand and useful for HM, resto provides powerful heals and channeling can deal quite nice damage. watch your derv though, apparently there's a buff for them coming up soon.
