So, right now, my friend is looking to buy Guild Wars. The issue is, she has a Mac, so she'd be running it either in Wine or in VirtualBox.
Also, right now, the trilogy is on sale for $25 on Steam.
So, what I want to know is, if she buys it on steam, will that give her an access code that she could use to install it elsewhere (ie Wine, Crossover) without having to go through steam?
I know that steam lets you play on multiple computers, but if I'm dealing with Wine, I'd prefer not to have to go through steam...
(for those of you wondering, yes, I'm up to the challenge of using Wine, I've got it installed and running beautifully on my Linux box...)
Does Steam give you an access code?

It must do, as the serial is necessary for proof of ownership.
The certainly give serials for other games I own - Arkham Asylum and GTA IV spring to mind.

If you order Via Steam, they will issue you a key code which you will need to enter into the NCsoft website to open a Guild Wars account.
