Hero Elite Armor

i recently completed the nightfall campaign so naturally i want the prestige armor on all of my heroes, i have upgraded all of my heroes armor with runes and insignias so my question is when i upgrade their armor do the mods stay? or do i have to salvage every one off and then put it on thanks in advance =D

Prestige hero armor is not like getting a new set yourself. The skin changes but the mods and insignia remain.
