so how exactly does aggro work?

i read on wiki some time ago that the person with the least armor and life will be targeted first by enemies, so... i don't notice this happening when i'm running with my heroes only. say i put my warrior around 400 health, while my monks will be running over 600, will the monks still get targeted first because of their armor? is there any way to make it so you get targeted before your monks or other squishies?

I wouldn't actually say that the enemies will target the "weaker" targets "first". I think it would be more accurate to say they have a "priority" factor. So, there is a great chance that at least some of a group of enemies will go after the monks etc. That is one reason why "tanking", in the WoW sense, doesn't work very well in GW. However it is still beneficial to have a "tank" (can be minions) to bottle up as many as possible.
You basically should always be aware of who may be attacking the "squishies" and whether you need to deal with it and when.
Also, of course, if a squishy dies and gets a DP, their priority goes up. (speculation)

k thx also one more question, i remember being able to choose which district your default is when logging into guild wars, for instance.. i am american yet i chose europe i think because it seemed more popular, i want to switch back to american. 'edit account' doesn't seem to have that option anymore.

GW's tanking, as mentioned, doesn't quite operate by standard logic. It's far more difficult to control.
The best method is to have a high armor class, ideally warrior, take the agro and let it settle around them. The casters, who should have been out of the agro bubble of both enemies and warrior, then move in to cast when agro has stopped moving.
Enemies don't even consider other classes as targets until they've broken their agro bubble. So long as the caster class stays out, it's of little concern. Trick is coordinating that with a party, or even more difficult, attempting to get heroes to adhere to that.
If you have further questions, I could address them via PM.

Monsters attack the target they can kill the quickest, they mainly include armor, health and time to get into attack range.
Armor greatly increases your durability, i.e. if you're using a shield you'll be as tough as a squishie with ~1000 health.
Tanking was never intentionally included by the devs, it only works due to some flaws in the AI. At best simply ignore tanking and instead bring some support, like Eruption, Aegis, "Save Yourselves!" etc.; it's less frustrating (especially with Heroes/Henchmen) and more effective in about 90% of the PvE content.

They changed the "regional" server system. Now you can freely switch between servers with no limits. You do it by the method Quaker mentioned. I don't understand your problem as when I log out after playing on one of the Asian servers, when I log back in, I am still on that server no matter which character I use before and after.
