So what's changed?

Firstly, let me apologize ahead of time if this is in the wrong place. I wasn't 100% on where to put this... Anyways, I haven't played in about 6 months, but now it's summer (and I'm sick)! So I figured I'd play some GW! I want to restart completely, replay all the missions, get titles, all that fun stuff. But, because the game seems like it's changed extensively, I'm unsure where to start. Specifically, people say some of the classes have changed dramatically? Rits are godly now? Aside from wanting to know what has changed in the game (someone also mentioned there is no longer TA?!) I was hoping some Guild Wars Gurus could help me pick a class. I like all styles of play, but because of the changes I am unsure of what classes are accepted into groups now. Here are some things I like to do:

-HM/NM Missions, the easier it is for my class to get into a group, the better.
-Farming, I like to farm lots of gold for no reason other than seeing my wealth grow.
-PvP, particularly RA and AB which probably isn't really pvp to most of you but whatever. I also want to learn this class really well and eventually GvG and do other "higher levels" of pvp.

Thanks in advance. If this is in the wrong place move it and make fun of me, or whatever.

Not much has happened in the last 6 months. Reading the update notes would be best if you wanted to try and stay up-to date.

Mesmers got a buff (they're usable now), Tactics and Hammer Mastery got buffed (still not much use though, at least in PvE (which the update was aimed at anyway)). Blood Magic got buffed also.

I'm pretty sure that update occured late last year, so you would have been around for it. Basically in PvE Rit spirits cast in 3/4 or 1 second, making spirit spamming an incredibly viable technique.

TA is gone, as is HB. Codex Arena replaced it, but I hear it's practically empty now.

-Farming, I like to farm lots of gold for no reason other than seeing my wealth grow. Assassin would be the best thing, but depending on how much 'lots' is, all other professions are capable of making money.
-PvP, particularly RA and AB which probably isn't really pvp to most of you but whatever. I also want to learn this class really well and eventually GvG and do other "higher levels" of pvp.If you plan to do serious PvP, you'll want a PvP-only character. RA/AB is full of stupid people though, you can run any profession you wanted and get good results provided your team members have brains (don't count on it).
My comments in bold. Also, just play around with each profession and see which one you like best. It's a better way of going about things than just going with whatever is good atm.

Ugh

Rit, Monk, War, Sin, Mes, or Nec. Para or Ele if you don't mind only playing one build.

This depends on if you want solo or team farming.

Rit and Sin are definately the best farmers. Monks used to be good, but I don't know how they're doing now. Wars and eles are okay. Dervs might be okay, I dunno.

Monk, War, Ranger, Mes, and Ele are good pretty much everywhere.

If those three things are of equal priority, I guess you'd want war or monk. Also, dervs are supposed to receive an update soon, so they might see more play in the future.

He might've been talking about the Channeling buff. I think that was recent.
