Getting a weird issue lately. Whenever I switch to windowed mode GWs will skip 1 frame every 2 seconds when moving. I can go back to fullscreen and the problem stops. Anyone ever encountered this problem as well?
Specs:
- Win7 x64
- 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz
- Core i5 750
- GTX 280 w/ latest drivers
- Cooler Master 750W PSU
I never had this problem on my old Win7 32-bit w/ the same GPU. 64-bit Issue?
*sidenote* The rest of my games run flawlessly; seems to be unique to GWs
Windowed mode

Anyways...
If it's just Guild Wars doing this, it's likely a corruption of the GW.dat. Delete the gw.dat file and use the -image operator. That will get you a brand new GW game, but it will take some time. Be patient, and it should fix the issue.
Lord Dagon
wow thats a dumb post. and also i think it GW is supposed to do that in windowed mode just b/c you have a smaller screen to game ratio i think. just my sense... or u can follow zhuliang advice lawl. gl.. and if in doubt.. reinstall ur dat file or restart ur comp.

No dice. An -image didn't work, i'm just going to assume this a windowed + 64bit issue
Jk Arrow
Could be. I run in a window, albeit on a much older machine with no problems. I find it looks way better in a window than full screen for some reason. GW doesn't seem to like my widescreen monitor very much.

I just tried it and I get no problems when switching from full screen to windowed. I even tried a few different window sizes, but it's smooth always.
The only significant difference between my system and yours is that I'm still running my older HD4870.
So, maybe your GTX-280 sucks. (jk)
Btw, are you using the Aero desktop?
I can recall people having fps problems when running non-Aero (2D) desktops and GW (3D) games in a window.

Figured it out: ended up being a driver problem. I downloaded the 197.45 drivers (the version my older Win7 32bit PC uses), driver swept the current one out, installed the 197.45 and now all is well.
Not sure why this was a problem. Maybe a corrupt driver install...or the newest ones suck (wouldn't surprise me). Whatever it was its gone now, thanks for the help everyone.

Definitely not a 64 bit issue, i run win 64 bit on 2 pc's and neither have a problem with windowed mode at 1920x1200. Driver issue maybe? Try reinstalling and older driver version.
