Hey everyone, as the title suggests I'm thinking of getting back into GW.
I have both factions and nightfall with some basic chars from those chapters, and a few high level regular characters from the original.
Lots of cash, weapons and armor and spells that were top of the game... back then.
My question is... where the F do I start up again? Should I go buy EOTN? Level up heroes in nightfall? Gather better armor and spells...? A rough guide would be great!
Any help is appreciated help Thanks.
Getting back into the game... need help

Get eye of the north, the skills (and to a lesser extent heroes) are pretty much mandatory for PvE. Also, the dungeons there give you alot of gameplay and are great to farm as a team.
When you first enter eotn on a character, you are instantly given a level 20 monk, elementalist and shortly (5 minutes later) a mesmer hero. It is worth completing all the campaigns, on a few characters, if you plan on farming, especially factions, nf and eye of the north.

Well, what do you want to do? Have you completed all the missions and finished both games? Are you interested in GvG battles? (in which case find a guild), Do you want try finish to game in Hard Mode or even just have fun and do quests with people? It really depends on what you want to do Just enjoy it

Feel free to add me in-game (Gypsie Ether) if you feel like doing something, need help or just want some random ingame guidance. Good luck

Yes, you should buy EotN as the Hall of Monuments in the expansion allows you to reap some unknown benefits in GW2. Steam has it on sale this week and so does Amazon ($7.50).
As for what to do; set a goal, pick a character and jump back into the game. It's possible that your "good stuff" is now worthless, but check out the Ventari section for current prices. You don't say how long you have been gone, but we have daily Zaishen mission/bounty/combat, daily War in Kryta bounties, and Nicholas the Traveler as shown on the front page of the wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

How long has it been since you stopped? If it's only been a year or so, you haven't missed much. Just read over the update notes on the official website and get back into things. You'll remember it soon enough.
If it's been several years (more likely), just pretend you've never played before and relearn everything. Put the cash into storage and use it to get up to speed. Making a new character can be a good way to refamiliarise yourself with the mechanics. If you haven't finished any of the campaigns, do that first. Picking up EotN somewhere along the track is also worthwhile.

My apologies, Steam is not selling EotN at all. Neither does direct2drive. So it's ArenaNet or retail only.

Thank you all for the replies!
Hmmm it seems like I will be buying EOTN (It's so cheap! :O),
And yea I've been gone for about... 3 years now? lol.
I'm interested in GvG... but being the perfectionist that I am, I like to have all the bells and whistles for my chars before I jump into that, so it seems PvE is what I'll be doing. I never did finish Nightfall though...

Get all. However, you don't need to be UAX to GvG. GvG'ing requires being aware of field position and constantly being aware of what's going on in the field. Really, I would start PvP now if I wanted to GvG in the not too distant future.
