How much of the Elonian mainland can be skipped?

Hey, I want to get my monk to DoA but I'm really not feeling like doing the whole thing again. I've heard of people skipping large part of the campaign. Is that true and if so, what can be skipped?

I'm pretty sure you have to do all the primary quests and the missions in Nightfall. It's Prophecies in which you can skip a large part of the campaign by getting a run to Sanctum Cay, doing the desert missions to get ascended then a run to Iron Mines for infusion and then Thunderhead Keep and the three Fire Islands missions. Of course, the point of doing that eludes me.

Have to complete all the missions/quests to get to DoA. Only skips I know of is Sunspear Sanct->The Kodash Bazaar for Vabbi armor.

:P It eludes me as well, but some people enjoy their level 1s at the last mission I suppose.

You MIGHT be able to skip a large part of Nightfalls story. To do this you have to do the Ruins of Morah mission to be able to enter the Realm of Torment but you first have to do the mission Gate of Desolation in order to be able to control the Junundu. The Gate of Desolation mission won't be available to you as a mission until you reach that part in the main story. Until you reach that part of the story it will just remain an outpost to you. If you don't do the mission and you are with someone who did the mission trying to run you it won't allow them to use of the Wurm Spoor, making crossing the Desolation impossible. Someone who has the mission unlock for them might be able to get you into the mission in order to control the Junundu but again it may not let them take someone who hasn't done the other missions.
But once inside the Realm of Torment you will hit another huge brick wall that will prevent you from going straight to the last mission. You have to do every mission in the Realm of Torment because some outposts you need to get to in order to start another mission can only be reached after completing another mission and no way else.
But good luck finding anyone in the Realm of Torment to help you. It's pretty much completely deserted all the time.
