1. This is either a discussion question which belongs in Riverside, or you phrased the question incorrectly. If this was intended as an actual Q/A question, then your question should have been "are these just placeholders?"

2. The book set for July 27th, 2010 is less than 30 days from the current date. To me, that makes it more likely that it is not just a placeholder but an actual date. And if it IS just a placeholder, we'll know relatively soon. The one set for Dec. is so far off that it is surely a placeholder, because there can be different circumstances between now and then that slow/speed the book's publication and mass reproduction.

3. The books are terrible. I play a game because the game is good. I don't buy books based off of a game because I like the game. The books don't stand on their own and they couldn't pay me to take those hellspawns.

Borders doesn't seem to have updated their website on these books. The Matt Forbeck one is now titled Guild Wars 2: Ghosts of Ascalon by Matt Forbeck and Jeff Grubb. It does have a publish date of 27 July 2010. You can link to an excerpt in this thread on guildwars2guru.com http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/...mon-t5176.html

The other book would be one of the other proposed GW2 novels, which doesn't have a name or proposed release date as far as we know. We do know that ArenaNet originally announced at PAX 2008 that there would be three novels although I don't have a link to that info.

Edit: found a link to video interview from PAX 2009 about the novel(s). http://www.youtube.com/user/arenanet.../0/-WyURCt_0rs
