Scam e-mails...?

That's a little scary that addresses associated with this site are being targeted. Thanks for the heads up.

No matter how much I dislike NCsoft for the unfair ban they gave me, I will help you. The letter you got is 99% F-A-K-E , A-net never say "we've got the evidence to prove blah-blah" if they accuse you of something, they don't need to tell you they have the evidence, they just tell you what you did and you get a ban or some other punishment. So don't worry, the only way A-net may ever verify you're the owner of the acc is by asking you for the game codes from the boxes, they don't give a damn about your acc name and pass, they already have it . So don't worry.

I get those scam mails on a daily basis seems like their activities increased a lot the last days.
Just delete it and ignore it.

That....... is odd.... o.0
You didn't get any fake ban emails until you signed up with Guru? And you've had the email for over 2 years? Uhm... Inde needs to step in ASAP and see wth that's about.
According to a certain person I know who is an admin for Guru, the security issue we had a while back with Guild Wars was somewhat in part Guru's fault. Gee... >____>

I just got one of those as well. Notice the webpage they want you to log into is a variant on the ncsoft website (including some XXX so no one follows it):
XXX.ncsoft-access.com/plaync_login.pl/default.asp
Also, check the mail header, the return path:
Return-Path: [email protected]

And there has been a lot of spam and slow loading on Guru lately. Think they're tied together? |

Count me in. Would like to know what is going on. The email that I use ONLY for guild wars guru has been targeted, this email has never been associated outside of guild wars guru or with official anet/nc products/websites.

I heard something the other day...
The reason so many of them are going out is because email is 100% completely free. Start charging something for mass emails and things will change. And hell, the revenue would be great for the current global situation.
I don't send many emails so I just delete them and move on, nothing new.

I've been getting emails on the account I think this is linked to for Aion, GW (rarely), and WoW. Been getting them for months, and I don't even play 2/3 of those games. lol
Neo Nugget
I've never gotten a single piece of spam for any email associated with Guild Wars or Guru.
The spam email isn't from guru itself, but from the email notifying you of a new private message sent by an ad spammer.

Same for me! I get my 1-a-day for a Wow account...a game that I've never played. They are funny to read, though.
Ohh, have to go...Blizzard has invited me to Cataclysm Beta!

Below is a quote from a genuine scam email:
Account security is solely the responsibility of the accountholder. Please be advised that in the event of a compromised account, Blizzard representatives will typically lock the account. In these cases the Account Administration team will require faxed receipt of ID materials before releasing the account for play.

I get those WoW phishing e-mails everyday. Occasionally I get ones for GW and Aion as well. Apparently my non-existent WoW and Aion accounts will be terminated soon because of all my bad behaviour in WoW.
cosyfiep
apparently my prepaid wow subscription is ending (AWWWWWWWW)....didnt even know I HAD one.
End
KageNoShi
I haven't gotten one in about a month or two(knocks on wood) but I also didn't start getting those till I signed up some time ago.

Am I really the only one who hasn't gotten any on the address we registered to this site with?
Neo Nugget
Why?
always get wow and aion ones, never had a gw one.
AmbientMelody
The 'mail' from first post has even incorrect grammar and punctuation, so why bother If someone is so stupid to fall for this, then he deserves that. Also, thank Anet for trilogy edition priced 20$. They clearly have best interests of existing players at heart, they really do
cosyfiep
...and my wow account seems to have gotten in with the wrong crowd---illegal trades ---and is going to be banned (awwwwwwwwww)
dammn doing something wrong I guess since I dont even HAVE a wow account!

It's okay Cosy my wow account is in the same boat as yours...though I dont remember ever having a WoW account in the first place...
Wicked One
I get the WoW ones every single day but there seems to be a mix up! my 'account' has been flagged to be banned for illegal actions but then invited to participate in the beta lmao.
Never played WoW and won't so not a problem.
I have gotten Aion and GW ones in the past but the english was so pathetic all I could do was chuckle as I deleted them.

I hadn't played Guildwars for almost 2 years until a few days ago. The e-mail address this was sent to has no relation to guildwars/my account other than being the one I used to sign up here a few days ago. So, why am I suddenly recieving gw phishing scams? Has anyone else here received the same?

Trust me i just got from Sony recently i lol'd so hard.
Zebideedee
I had a couple of WoW ones a few weeks back (I don't play WoW). I was tempted to set up a trial account and give them that info. Then I realised, too much hassle and just deleted the e-mails
