zzzzz.... How you forget something as important as a password to an account that you access everyday is beyond me (whether or not it is saved via -password string).
If you have your account linked to a PlayNC Master Account then you can just do it through there. Resetting a password through in-game means is always accomplished in real time the moment you tell the email to reset your password. Make sure you email that you're using is not blocking emails from Guild Wars or anything.
Other than that, I have no idea how else to help you. Meh.
edit: You said your email is shut down. Please clarify what you mean by "it doesn't work anymore". If it's Yahoo or Hotmail, I am pretty sure that logging into it at least once and telling it to reinstate your email will fix it and re-allow you to use it to send and receive emails.

no what i mean when its "shut down" is that i no longer have acess to it. I created the email 4 computers bk when i was 8(long before GW was out) and when i, nor anyone i knew, knew anyhting about computers. So, as i've changed computers i lost the information to the email my GW account is tied to(and i ironically got GW early when it came out right before we had changed computers again). Thats what i meant by that. the email is on some really old computer proably rusting in some junkyard in another state.
but yea, i mean i beleive(ive also moved so im not 100% sure) i still have acess keys and the like. Oh well, ill jsut have to wait to sort it wou w/ NCsoft i guess.

By the way, emails are not computer specific and furthermore not saved to your computer. Your computer is simply how you access them by using the internet. Your do this by going to the respective website that the email belongs to for where you created it at (aka, Yahoo email accounts = yahoo.com, Hotmail email accounts = hotmail.com, etc etc).

Unless you change the linked e-mail, it will use the one that you used when you set up the account - i.e. the old dead one
So, one of the first things you should do is to make sure your ANet and GW accounts are linked to a valid e-mail address.
(btw, that does not mean that you need to change the name of your GW account - which you can't anyway - just the e-mail used as a contact address.)

Follow these step by step instructions:
- Double click your Guild Wars shortcut; once Guild Wars is open, log into your account.
- At the very bottom left of your Guild Wars window there will be 2 options: "Log out" and "Edit Account". Click "Edit account".
- Click "Change email address".
- Click "Next".
- Enter your password and enter your new email address in the respective fields.
- Click "Change".
There will be 2 confirmation emails sent once you click "Change". One goes to your old email address, and the other goes to your NEW email address. To successfully change the email login for your Guild Wars account you must accept both confirmations. DON'T WORRY! This is not a problem.
To get around this technical wall, all you have to do is wait 1 week. Arena.Net has it set up so that if a person no longer has access to their old email address then all they have to do is wait 7 days and the email will automatically "accept" and the account will switch over to your new email.
KEEP ONE IMPORTANT THING IN MIND!!!!
Even though you do not currently have access to your old email address, you will need to keep logging in with your old email address for Guild Wars. When your account stops letting you log in with your old email (which will be 7 days from the time you clicked accept in the email confirmation) then from that point on your email will be successfully changed and you need to start using your new email.
Just make sure you do not forget to approve the confirmation email that is sent to your new email address that you are changing your account over to. I recommend writing the date and time down the moment you approve the email change so that you know when to expect the changeover to occur.
Good luck!
