They were annoying when we were doing WiK and now if were done with it on a character they still spawn and they are still messing up farms/runs. They are not helpful in any way so why are they still in the game? I was so glad that the WiK mobs were gone on characters that had completed the last quest but when I found out the popup Allies were still there i was disgruntled.

SWEET.

Not until they shove the ridiculous amount of henchmen in our guild halls into one corner, so I can actually find the npc I'm looking for.
Steps_Descending
the WM stop spawning??? *cry*
Cuilan
I don't see how they can really harm farms or runs much.

Fusylum
they made it so you cannot farm it...
I have to disagree with this.
good luck...

Not to go off topic but if you have even one of the "Wanted" bounties, they still show up.
As for the NPC's showing up, I can see how that might affect your farming run. I don't solo farm so they don't bother me. |
They only show up in the zone that the wanted bounty is for so it will only be a couple zones

As to the actual thread...*shrug* to everyone who isn't a farmer these allies are actually very helpful. Their skillbars are great, and they all have their own unique skill too. Vanquishing Kryta after you finish the WiK content would be great. It'd be nice if there was a way to opt-out of the ally, but it doesn't look like there is, so...find a new farm spot? idk...

Why not just give us the option to order them to follow us or stay?
It would also help a lot when you want to lure a group instead of just charge right into it.

Someone who aggroes everything prevents you from using any pulling and such is very annoying, not onlt for farming. And not all of them are useful, IMHO, I only remember the mesmer, the necro, and Shadow to provide some real help.

Does Thackeray still appear as one of these allies? That would be funny.
"I wonder what happened to Thackeray, Langmar, Greywind..."
"Oh, Thackeray's here right now!"

They stop you from certain farming builds, so switch to a different farming build that doesn't rely on the mobs suiciding on you or pumping energy into you. If you don't have another farming build then get one or go play elsewhere.
Who knows, people might have to start thinking while they play again, that hasn't happened much since the loot nerf.

If they only affect farms, then that's unimportant.
OH, and if anyone bothers to reply this, just imagine I reply with the same sentence again:
- If they only affect farms, then that's unimportant.
In a very monotone way. Like a bureaucrat in a government building's window.

and yes i consider guild wars an MMO for anyone who wants to be technical

Depends on what kind of farming you mean, usually in MMO's you farm resources/materials not mobs because they drop rare stuff.
I think they should keep them

lol They dont prevent you from using any builds they just make it annoying. The fact that you think that being productive while farming is such a bad thing is hilarious. Also, how is killing things faster going to make you have to think less than say killing things one at a time...... And wow i didnt know that people were thinking more while using the exact same strategy before the loot nerf with similar builds.

Try making your own farming builds rather than pvx no-brain it.
Sucks to be you.
mrseasonalt
It's not like they kept them in to make farming harder they kept them in because they just forgot to take them out or they actually think they are helpful.......

My friend that might have been the most useless post I have ever seen in my life.

I love the allies, I think they are one of the best parts of WiK. I find all of the Ebon Falcons useful and most of the Shining Blade useful. I'm never unhappy to see them join my team.
As far as pulling with them, maybe you're not doing it right because I have no trouble pulling with them. Worst case scenario I pull a mob as I run back to my group they lag behind and get killed but they never screw up a pull, only I can do that.
Solo farming is the bane of Guild Wars and if the allies are somehow hindering that, they are helping the community by doing more than fighting.
I've completed War in Kryta and when I have no bounty active, none of the allies spawn for me. So if you really want to solo farm Kryta just finish the WiK and it will return to it's old stale self. If you are farming greens or miniatures, join a group or stop moaning. The allies are a big part of WiK and made the content a lot more fun for a lot of people.
Personally I hope threads like this don't discourage the Live Team from repeating the random ally spawns. They really helped strengthen my party when taking on the new content and their character's and personalities added a whole new dimension to the story being told. It makes sense that when Thackeray's elite unit moves in to help they actually help. It also makes me care about the story that they start after the WiK ends. If they had simply been dialogues or short quests I wouldn't care or even bother that much to follow it along.
To me the War in Kryta allies are a big part of the story and what I enjoy about the playing experience. Actually fighting alongside me and having a story and character development made a lot of them more significant than most henchmen. If they mess up your farming either complete the content and it returns to normal or find a new way to farm. Guild Wars should be designed for groups, not a single 55 hp monk that has trouble farming bad AI.

You mean like Shadow Form, Spirit Bond, Shield of Absorption and tons of other skills that were nerfed because of farming abuse? Or skills that didn't get reverted with the PvE/PvP split because they might affect farming?

If they only affect NEGATIVELY farms, then they are unimportant.
Some farms and most runs are just allowed, but NOT supported.
That means that if you lose a farm due to some change, don't expect any change just so you can do that farm again.
That's just naïve, like thinking that the earth exists so humans can live on it or something like that.
