This isn't asking for a PC, rather asking about how best to ask for PCs.
I'm just starting the game, so the stuff I'm wanting to sell is probably not worth a lot. Guild Wars is the first MMO I've played without an organized in game market / auction house, so I'm finding it really hard to work out what's worth selling to other players and for how much.
The PC board doesn't look very useful. I had a scroll through it, it seems there's a lot of threads with no replies, or replies that are just people bumping. I could use the search function, but if the GW economy is like any other MMO I've played before, old threads asking for PC on the same item is probably not accurate anymore.
Further more, if someone replies and gives me a number, how do I know whether to trust it? If the board was very active, then I could rely on the fact that if someone was lying and giving me a very wrong answer, someone else would notice. But that doesn't seem to be the case.
This is the same for in-game PCs, if someone answers how do I know I'm getting a right-ish answer? Also who are the people who answer? I know that after some time trading in a MMO you get a good feel of the economy, you know roughly how much items are worth, but i'm not convinced that someone could tell me one item is worth x.yk gold and another slightly different item is worth x.zk gold.
I guess... newbie to guild wars economy. Can some more experienced traders explain how they actually go about finding items to buy or finding sellers? Is there a website that is maintained which I can go to for this kind of data? I mean even if I can get people on a forum to PC for me, I would feel bad about asking for it too often.

the way i get pc is looking using the search on the forums, checking the date, and when i see how much it was XX days/months/yrs ago. i will have a rough idea that if it was worth 100k 2 months ago i can safely bet(not always b/c some things like armbraces can crash very quickly) that if someone gives me a pc of like 2k that its complete bs.
Also, i would get NF(if you havent already) and go to a place called "Kamadan"(often refered to in game as "spamadan" due to the mass trading that goes on there) and ask for a pc in there. And when you get a pc id always ask for a 2nd or 3rd one. And Never, I mean NEVER sell it to the person that gives you the pc. For the most part those are the ppl that say "its worth 3k ill take it off your hands" or something along those lines are either A) scammers. or B) powertraders(not alot lot of difference in my opinion but hey).
so to sum it up get a couple of rough ideas from this pc thread(just a rough idea usually), then go ig into kamadan and get a pc there.
And tbh i wouldnt be too worried about pc's early on in the game and would wait to dip into the player economy after you get a decent grasp of the game.
oh and join a new/noob friendly guild like [KISS]. they usually can tell you the pc's of alot of items as long as you dont spam your question 800 times.
ok i hope this helps. this is what i usually do when im trying to get a rough idea on pc of items(and if in doubt check trade chat.. and look and see if someone is selling an item go and try and sell the item for the same price).

There are people selling and buying in the major cities.
Lions Arch
Kamadan
Kaineng Center
Great Temple of Balthazar
Hang out there for a while and just check the commerce.
I also use gwauctions.org as a price reference.

You can also search on the Buy & Sell forums, to see what people are asking or offering for that item. For greens and one-of-a-kind items there is this thread which can help sometimes. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/g...t10412055.html
In the game, if you can ask for a PC in one town, then switch to another market town to double check. Usually if someone gives a crap answer, others will jump in and correct it.

I personally use gwauctions.org as price reference.

our price check forum is answered by other guru members, so there are quite a few threads with no replies--we do apologize for this, but with the sheer number of items in game its hard to have an answer for every item.
As has been said if you have specific items you can do a search thru buy or sell and see if others are buying or selling items similar to yours.
This should at least give you an idea of the worth.
When making a pc thread make sure you include all the weapon information (req. inscriptions etc and if possible a screen shot).
