I'm trying to figure out what's been causing both to my game because I recently updated from MS and added SP3. The problem is I'll be playing my game and after awhile I'll end up with the freeze before my system is forced to reboot. Also often if I quit a game and not just GW, I'll get froze from there as well.
This I've noticed on 2 HDD. The one I'm trying now wasn't doing this till I updated any of it so I need to figure out if it's a bug or if I may have some kind of malware coming off from the other drive.
System specs:
Asus A8V
AMD Athlon 64
Win XP
Geforce 6600
2gb RAM
Also if possible, I would like to know if there's any software that can monitor and diagnose a crash to know what's causing it.
Crash and freeze issue.

When you jump a service pack to the next there could be some severe driver incompatibilities. You might be able to downgrade, see if you can and see if the problem goes away.

I'd try updating all of your drivers, also monitor your system temps...... usually a freeze during a game is either heat or driver related.... could be a virus, but they are not "limited" to gaming as much as the other two tend to be..

I agree - update all of your drivers.
These problems can also be caused by overheating and it could be just coincidental that you added SP3. Open up the computer and blow the dust out of it. Make sure that all the fans - CPU, GPU, power supply, case, etc. - are running.

I can rule out SP3 since I've not had it during the first round this started happening. I will take a look at the hardware and try to monitor what's happening otherwise I'll be looking at which update is causing all the problems.

Shoot... RAM going south maybe?

If it's the PNY card I had from a year ago maybe.
I think I may have this confirmed to be a bug in windows update. Similar problems like running "future pinball" from insert coin to press start cause unexpected error and close. Furthermore the crashing was quit and escape to desktop. In addition on my last install I had the security feature forcing IE to close as to not harm the system, thus I had to go into security and change that temporary and disable some of the add-ons. All this happened around the time span of that update. I'm going to need something that'll monitor this better then what the event viewer is currently getting because that hasn't caught onto the last known process before the freeze occurs.

try to restore your system to prior to the SP3 update...
