Is this a new e-mail to try to get account ID's ??

This is the content of the mail I received today.

Quote:
We have the evidence to prove that your account involved in the controversial game currency transaction .In order to guarantee the legitimacy of your account, we need you verify your account information at w.w.w.ncsoft.net/global/support/contact.aspx as soon as possible or we will suspend your account.Only Account Administration will be able to assist with account retrieval issues. We hope to see you!

Most likely, if you copy-pasted it into the quote with those punctuation/spelling/grammar/whatever errors and stuff, just ignore it, and since you don't have an Aion account, ignore it even more. Your account won't be suspended.

*Edit*

Plus, I think that the real ArenaNet/NCSoft will ban your account first, if you were accused of RMT trading, then when you log on they notify you. Then you can send emails and whatnot to prove them wrong, then they give you back the account. Not the other way around.

guild? I am supposed to have a guild?

you could send it to ncsoft and tell them you received it so they are up on what's going around (if you want to do that that is)...otherwise yes its not legit.

Any email you get from "NCsoft" or "ANET" that says anything about needing your account info is fake. Just trash it and don't think twice.

No I put the dots in, otherwise the link would be active in this post. And that I want to prevent

I am sure that they do indeed! What a joke! Steer Clear of the email.

Ye, the bots want to get new accounts I guess. :P

You should send a copy to Anet support, just for the idea. I doubt they'll do anything with it.

Well, since you don't have an AION account, the logical assumption is that it is fake.

People have been getting these e-mails for years.

ANET DOES NOT E-MAIL YOU TO TELL YOU THEY SUSPECT YOU.

They ban you, and you ask questions later.

I just feel sorry for all the clueless newblets that hopelessly fall for that scam.

ANET will not ask you for your account info.
ANET WILL not ask you for your account info.
ANET WILL NOT ask you for your account info.
ANET WILL NOT ASK you for your account info.
ANET WILL NOT ASK YOU for your account info.
ANET WILL NOT ASK YOU FOR your account info.
ANET WILL NOT ASK YOU FOR YOUR account info.
ANET WILL NOT ASK YOU FOR YOUR ACCOUNT info.
ANET WILL NOT ASK YOU FOR YOUR ACCOUNT INFO.

...now watch somebody who's seen this post STILL fall for that scam!

Yes it's a phishing email. And yes it was a good idea to come ask people who can help you on this. You're never too safe and this the kind of situation where it's never stupid to ask questions. Knowledge is your best ally.

Thanks for all who answered above .

Hint:

* Anet and Ncsoft have no reason whatsoever to "verify your identity"

* Warning you that you are going to get banned is not something they would do either

* And combining two above to "log in, else be banned (wooo! scarry!)" is pretty much giveaway that someone wants you to get scared about your account and under time pressure so that you do something irrational.

It's called spam and is covered in chapter one of How To Survive The Internet (subtitle: What Eight-Year Olds Know About The Internet).

Aparently people still fall for it though, as the bots can continue to do this for years.
With all the zillion new domain names they register, it must be profitable enough to fund this.
