I think this should go in the sardelac sanitarium section...
but yea, this would be really cool.

No but in all seriousness, it'd be really cool, if sized and spaced properly. Unfortunately we don't really have enough lore at this time to envision what a "Planet Tyria" would be comprised of.
Perhaps something for GW2 to delve deeper into.

i agree seeing the planet itself would be really nice. might be something we get in GW2.
/signed b/c id be cool to know more about the world we spend/spent 3,000hrs+ of our lives in

it would also make map travel a lot quicker.

I really don't think the devs know what lies beyound our current maps, but it would be cool to find out.

I think somebody already made one on old wiki.

He/She is talking about the entire planet. Not just Tyria (the continent), Cantha, the Battle Isles, and Elona.
@OP: I don't see why Anet would bother with this. I'm not even sure they've made any kind of lore or whatnot for other areas (barring Orr and other areas referenced).

In more seriousness, fantasy worlds are probably better off when there's an unknown element left in the world to explore. If ANet produces a planetary map, my first questions would be, "Which race plotted this out, how'd they do it, and what for?" After that, the Devs would essentially be expected to fill in every landmass (or large sea) that had even a small significance to anything.
"Hey, there's this little race of pig people on a tiny island that's almost on the other side of the planet from Tyria, and we know they exist because once upon a time, they sent us a small sample of a local delicacy. WE MUST HAVE ANET MAKE A CAMPAIGN ABOUT IT."

Excellent idea
Maybe for an expansion we will get space wars with galactic maps awsome.
The Asura will build a huge planetoid probably not called the Death Star for reasons of copyright.
seriously a world map would be nice though leaving it for gw2 is probably best.
I would like a single map of the continent with all ports accessable.
That way we don't get the interminable Map to game then map to main port then map again to get to the area you wanted.
Going from guild hall or temple of balthazar to any port would be nice, yes I know it's not much trouble but it is annoying when you have been doing it for nearly 4 years.
Even more so with eye of the north, from prophesies its a simple click from the other two games its annoying after the 10,000 th time you do it.
Single access map please, we click on the area the computers do the work it's the way they are supposed to be used, they do the boring repetitive tasks so we don't have to.
deep breath rant over

dunno if this will please you guys but it looks good enough to me. judging by the amount of ocean i'm pretty sure this has most of the planet covered. (atleast until GW2 comes cos it happens 400 years later and thus the map is changed abit.)
Tullzinski
take above map print it out and tape it on a ball, then blammo you have a world map.

Not happening. As long as there is unknown territory, the avenues for expansions are nearly endless.

@Tullzinski
that way you get tyria(continent) and cantha merged
Voodoo Rage
Who says it is a planet? Maybe all the toons are actually hooked up to some sort of matrix simulation in some building somewhere and they are being controlled by a bunch of enraged teenagers. Oh wait...
Mintha Syl
Really, such ideas...where did you get them from? I bet you've played some videogame

For GW2, durrr.
That's saying we're only going to get two expansions beyond the first. I don't think that will happen. The only thing we can say with certainty is that there is a possibility of new expansions taking us to different locales in Tyria in GW2, and they'd be fools to scrap that possibility so far in advance. We're talking years in the future here.

for the 2 something tells me there's gonna be no new land, just the old ones in the future divided into campaigns more or less like the first, so... |

Why did this asuran do that? Because he could! Because no other asuran did so he did it first! Just to show up any other asuran and prove that projectile golems are still viable. Thats why!
Bring on the pig campaign...and the forks!

That's probably as much new mappage as we are gonna get for a while. It's for the new book, which I think takes place not long before GW2

The Asuran descendant of Zinn, taking a page from his ancestor's book, explosively launched some golems into the stratosphere with mystical recording equipment and as they circled the globe before plummeting back to the ground, they captured images of what said globe looked like.

Well, Columbus hasn't set sail yet, so technically, Tyria (the planet) could be flat.

@Skyy High
I think we're gonna have an expansion for each dragon, so one for cantha, one elona, one for eye region and one...totally underground? but that's pure speculation and I didn't read much information, so I could be totally mislead xD
