Quick Weapon Switch still viable?

I haven't played in awhile, and before I quit I think I remember seeing things about Anet not liking the quick switch function people can do, but I might be making that up in my head.
Is it still able to be done? And if so, since I forgot, how do you do it?
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's when you switch between weapons using the F buttons, but getting rid of the delay in time from switching. I think this can be done by (for instance) You're on F1, and you want F2 weapon set. You press F2+Escape really fast, or Escape+F2 really fast. I don't recall.

EDIT: Since I don't want to post another thread, if someone could answer this while they are at it:
Does Backbreaker hit 5 second KD if I use the insignia (or rune, whatever it was) that adds 1 second to KD time?

Can't comment on the quick switch, but Backbreaker is unaffected by stonefist insig since it's already over the maximum KD allowed by it.

You press escape followed by desired weapon set key.

There are two ways to weaponswap quickly. The first is pressing esc before swapping, to be sure not to be doing anything when you try to swap. The second, more difficult (in my opinion, at least), is swapping when you are moving, because if you are moving the game assumes you aren't casting or attacking, and so it lets you swap without any delay.

These techniques are indeed viable right now, and i don't recall to have ever heard anything about ANet not liking quick weapon-swapping (to be honest, why do they have to disagree with something that makes the game more skill-oriented, if they always said that this is a skill>time game?).

It's honestly not hard whatsoever. You just need to understand how to do it. A simple way to practice with to help you grasp the concept is by clicking the floor mid attack and pressing f1-f4. If you know anythiung about q-stepping, you can also use this as a way to teach you how to weapon swap-- try and time your f1-f4 with when your attack connects (of course... this method slightly requires better-than-average hand-eye coordination.

Insta-weapon swapping without ever having to stop is your friend and my toons love it. ^___^

Ooohh. I'll try this out. It took me about 15 minutes to do the Esc switch perfectly and not mess up ever again after first learning it. I'm pretty good when it comes to things like this.

Thanks for the posts, everyone

Thank you very much for the advice. I'm going to try this out.
