Nice find, can't wait to see what they have plained!
Ugh
So, we lost one person from the live team and another person already on the live team got promoted? Isn't that bad?
tl;dr

We will expect great things from you John! So, does this mean I can give my list of quest, dungeons, weapons, armor, foes, areas, lore, PvP Arena's, contest ideas to Eric Flannum or no?

Thanks for posting, the news seem to always get in the wrong place first.
That's what I thought as well
This is bad indeed, although John Stumme wrote they'll be adding a lot of new storylines atc for gw1 I don't see how they could do it effectively if they're already having trouble with it since the live team became so small.

Since then, I’ve contributed other content, such as “Deactivating R.O.X.,” while continuing to work on Guild Wars 2. Now that I’m moving over to lead the Live Team, |
I like the hint that we will be learning more about events in Cantha and Elona as GW:B continues.
Linsey has certainly brought a lot of great content to the game in the couple of years I've been playing, and she'll be missed. Best of luck in the new position!
It sounds like we won't be losing on the deal, though. Welcome, John!

Actually reading that would have helped - John was not part of the Live Team, so it is not getting smaller.

On Topic - Congratulations to both of you. I hope that Linsey enjoys her new position. And, John, welcome to a new life with no time off and constant complaints from your "fans" and supporters. I can't wait to see what new content will evolve.

Hmmm..Wonder why Linsey's new promotion is so secretitive. I guess she's being put back on Guild Wars 2. (I really really really really really hope so.)
Good luck to John for trying to manage the live team. I dont imagine this will be a very easy transition.

Hopefully John can bring balance to all arenas in PvP, not just GvG. =P Random and Codex Arenas comes into mind.

I'd give you a cookie if I could. :3

ah, a shame to lose Linsey. I will miss her.......erm.......colorful language on the Test Krewe vent server. I'll always remember her transforming into a Leviathan in LA and obliterating my crit scyther from existance.
I do look forward to working with John.

I wonder what that means for the next part of GW:Beyond content updates, because if such a transition happens now it may suggest there was no large future project in development and we will have to wait quite a long time before seeing anything new in game (outside some balancing updates). Before this news I had hoped that the slowrolling of all the WiK content gave them time to work on the next thing to come and to make the waiting period much shorter.

Congratulations to both! Don't let us down

Linsey is going to be a hard act to follow. She's presided over the best new content (including skill balances) since the game was released. I wish John good fortune in filling her shoes.

Congrats to both, I continue to have high hopes for Guild Wars Live. So far I have not been let down.

"For the competitive portion of our player base, fret not. The same members of the Live Team that have continued to work on skill balance will still be there"
I am not inspired.

Well they still have to finish up the whole Lieutenant Thackeray and Gwen thing. So I am not going to pass any type of judgment at the moment. Beyond that I am kind of disheartened by the fact Lindsey is walking out of the Live team. Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea she got promoted. However the change itself is the real question. I want to see if there will be the same communication level that Lindsey had with the community; with John being the new head of the live team.

Its sometimes a bad idea to keep the same team on a project, firstly because they can burn out and secondly because you can get too involved.
Fresh faces and new ideas can work wonders, if the newbie is good and the team give them every chance to shine.
I have nothing but good feelings for the change and congrats on the promotion Linsey

Since John has worked with the Live Team before on some content, I think we can rest easy about them giving him a chance. If he had any frictions with them in the past, he would have been a fool to take the position even if ANet were fool enough to offer it to him in those circumstances.
Morphy
Don't care until they manage to srsly improve balance.

"If someone is hit by a meteor, it should instantly kill them. In both PvP and PvE, because really, it’s just more realistic. Come on. It’s a meteor.” But more than simply maintaining balance, we’ll continue to work on improvements to our competitive gameplay types, as well as building new types for special occasions."
Because hitting lvl 30 monster with meteor and causing 50-60 dmg + kd at 16 fire magic is balanced.

Guess we should all be prepped for cruise control anyway. 1.5 more years to go.

Congrats to John. Great to see one of the Guru old-timers working as a live dev now!
