Guild wars on crossover
Oram
I'm on a Mac(leopard) and I'm using crossover to try and play guild wars. Once it gets to 100% it says "Unable to initialize 3D output. Please verify that you have installed DirectX 8 and an updated video driver." I've played other 3D games that require DirectX on crossover, and I can't seem to figure out why it won't work. I've tried running it with -dx8, -dx9, -noshader. None of them helped. My computer specs are good enough to run Guild Wars, so that's not the problem. Anyone have any idea how I can get guild wars running?

Have you tried the latest version of Wine (1.2)? It now lists GW as a platinum game.

Well I'm pretty sure you can't just get wine on a mac, isn't it only for linux? I know crossover has wine built in but there's no standalone version of it for mac. I do however have the newest version of crossover.

Apparently works on OS X too.

I know it's a pipe dream, but as GW is available on Steam and more and more Steam products are being Mactivated, do you think, maybe..?

Lol, nah I don't think Guild Wars will be ported to mac because Guild Wars 2 is coming out in less than a year. Let's hope they make Guild Wars 2 on mac haha. Still no luck getting it to work :/.

GW on mac is unlikely. Good luck with crossover, if you can't get it to work you could always resort to bootcamp.
Oram
My friend got it working on crossover without any problems :/ But yeah I could always use bootcamp but I'd like to stay away from that because I'm limited on space.

Well I deleted crossover and updated it to 9.1 from 9.0 and Guild Wars runs fine now
