10/10 sundering

In many forums and other places, I have either seen 10/10 sundering mods being bought/sold for high prices, or seen people commenting on how valuable they are.
Um, is my math off, or is 10%/10% strictly worse than 20%/20%?
If so, why are they valuable? If it's just because they're "rare", there are many things ingame that are both rare and worthless (such as a BDS someone got as a drop that didn't have an inscription slot).
Am I missing something in this case?
Thank you,
Ailina.

Yep, just cuz they're rare. In this case it's probably more of a collector thing than an e-peen thing.

Also, don't fall for the scam of 10/10 sundering sword mods. You can get them as a quest reward in Prophecies.

how much do they sell for? i have a ton of x/10 to 10/10s on old weapons- been meaning to upgrade them, but if its worth it to perfect salvage them off and sell, id prefer to do that!

if the 10/10 sword mod is worthless because of the quest reward, does that mean the x/10 sword mods are worthless or would they still have collector value?

Thanks for the warning, Dzjudz. As it turns out, I'd already suspected that, since I was just looking at the page for that quest (Fires in the East), which itself reminded me of the 10/10 sundering subject, and prompted me to ask this question.
Also, I just happened upon a thread doing exactly what you warned against, trying to sell a 10/10 sword mod for 50k (it seems that someone offered 100k, but their bid was vague, so I'm not sure which lot they were offering to buy).
Here's the link:

Thanks all for your answers.
This whole thing seems to me to just be yet another case of people assigning value to items with no inherent value -- anyone reminded of the pet rock phase?
Thanks all for your answers! <3

10/10 sundering mods are only of value to collectors. Just like the newer x%/20 mods, they were relative rare, compared to x%/10 mods. So, only the "perfect" 10/10 would be worth anything.

Ah I see you have a 24-hour ban in your pocket. I would've warned you against posting a non-bid post in the buy/sell forums if I'd known people actually advertised those items (edit: ah I see he has removed it).

Yeah, I was surprised, since I've never been banned or suspended or had any warnings or anything before. I thought I was doing the right thing by warning people. How else should I have gone about it?
Also, since as I said I've never been banned, I have a question about it: when you are in a ban period, are people able to send you messages (that you can't pick up until you're unbanned)? Aka if you try to send a private message to a banned person, does they allow it to go through?
Many thanks. <3

It's not that it's rare, it's that you can't get it anymore. It's like dye remover; discontinued items are valuable to some collectors.

PM the seller and tell them. This would have solved the issue in your case. If there were still issues after that you should have PM'ed a mod. Regardless of intentions, the 'bid or do not post' still applies. That's what PM's are for.

PS: Before posting in a forum you haven't posted in before, check the stickies for this kind of thing. Also, in Ventari's, there should be a big message above the thread warning you that that forum has more specific rules.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Also, unless you disable this, sending someone a PM will send them a notification and a copy of the message. Thus sending a message to a banned person shouldn't be hard. They won't be able to respond the same way though.
