I refuse to use the 'official' wiki out of principle. Wikis are NOT DISCUSSION FORUMS. Since the Devs insist on using them as such, I insist on using the other wiki.

That, and the wikia has amazing discussion pages, which usually give 10x as much info about something than the crap posted on the official pages.

unofficial wikia here

Though, I prefer going to kamadan and spamming stupid questions such as "Where can i buy ranger tombs". (yes I say tombs instead of tomes)

I completely forgot about the wikia one. Now If I ever get there, I find it lacking. Things are empty somehow, and info is just... messed up.
I don't mean wrong, but "not in the proper order".
Things are ordered in a more logical way in the official one, and they don't put lore over mechanics. That's something I always hated when I found it in the wikia one.

It was nice before the acquisition, but after wikia got it, it only went downhill, and got filled with Internet Drama.
And why using the unnoficial when the official is free and linked to the game?
There is no reason other than 'politics' and politics suck.

And the official gets faster all update, dev update and news info. There's nothing more important than fresh news about things that change and new stuff.

I prefer Guildwiki over Guild Wars Wiki, but lately, Guildwiki loads strangely with the title "Main Page" over to the far left and the "Search this wiki" and the Navigation menu lost somewhere at the very bottom of the page. Also, many things have more of a point form layout compared to before.

This effect is also happening on my partner's computer, but not on my laptop. On my laptop, Guildwiki looks the same as it always has. The only difference that I can think of is that my laptop runs Vista and the other two computers run XP.

Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix Guildwiki so that it looks normal again on my main computer?

I really did prefer Guildwiki over Guild Wars Wiki, but not so much anymore.

It's probably a web browser issue; wikia looks the same to me with both Opera and Firefox. Configure IE if that's what you use, or install and run another browser to display it correctly.

Try posting a thread in technician's forum if you need help.

I prefer the official wiki due to organization, format, game integration, and no ads.

I use both, but I tend to use the unofficial one more. I usually just use the official one if it's for something new that's not on the unofficial one yet (like when the WiK stuff started). I don't like the layout on the official one, though, and I find that a lot of the articles aren't as detailed as on the unofficial wiki.

Ever since Guildwiki changed over to the new stupid wikia formats and stuff (like ages and ages ago) I migrated to the official wiki.

TY for the heads up
I'm not sure how you can go to the main page of the official wiki and miss the box that's titled Latest In Game Activities that lists the Zquests and Nick stuff as well as the Wanted by Shining Blade quests, with a prominent link to the full schedule. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Daily_activities

You might want to use the Quick Access Links page on the official wiki. I think you will find links to skills in just about any configuration you might want.

Oh, and if you haven't figured it out, I definitely prefer the Official Wiki over GuildWiki. While there are a few things that GuildWiki has due to it's longer history, I believe the organization of information on GWW is better.

Official. Better looking, more organized/better layout, ad free, etc.

I do wander over to the unofficial once in a blue mooon when I need some really obscure info, but I couldn't care less about the armor pictures there. Usually you can sit in spamadan for 10 min and find any armor you're looking for on somebody, view it from all angles, and see the worst your armor can possibly look so you know if you'll absolutely hate it later.
... That or step into the HoM and turn on account view where I've got almost every set displayed.

The unofficial wiki has been around since 2005.

I prefer it simply because it was run and continues to be run by people who place the wiki before their own egos and it focuses on the community, not the egos of the admin. The official wiki is full of self obsessed admin that love edrama, power and brown nosing ArenaNet instead of actually documenting the game. Not only do they have trolls on their admin staff but they also actively argue against adding content to the wiki based on policy (or personal) reasons which make no sense.

The way the official wiki is run is counter productive and hostile to contributors. The admin are more concerned about being right than they are about creating a useful wiki.

The official wiki looks more organized and clean to me, so I search for info there. The unofficial sometimes has info the official doesn't have, but it's often not important info.

Soooo... I haven't used the unofficial one in a long time.

Sorry Feen - couldn't let this one pass.

A "discussion forum" is one of the many things that Wikipedia "is not." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...kipedia_is_not). That's Wikipedia.

A wiki can be for whatever you want to use it, and in this case the devs like to discuss stuff.

Snograt, I think he was referring more to the fact that wiki's are terrible means of communication because by their very nature they are not set up to "chat" or discuss. They are there for knowledge, to be an encyclopedia. There's no flow to a conversations on the wiki and is incredibly hard to use for that purpose. But technically, yes, you can use a wiki for what you'd like. Doesn't make it a good solution though.

My Bad, guess I just never hovered over the hyperlink text "… other days" on the main page to learn THAT is the link to the URL with the schedule. I mean, why would I expect the hyperlink text to be something like... oh I don't know... "schedule" ?

Actually Snog, the devs don't really like to discuss stuff, they just prefer to post the information that is and watch the shit hit the fan on the forums

The wiki is the perfect vehicle for this

.
If you want to talk wiki history, the people who set up and ran GuildWiki in the beginning are pretty much the exact same people who set up the Official Wiki when ArenaNet opted to create it, since that's who Anet turned to for help. There are still admins on GWW from that time period in fact. So.. that being said, I don't see your reasoning as valid in that regard. As far as documenting the game, I don't think you will find many on GWW (admin or not) that would block the addition of any information that is actually documenting the game. There are policies that have been developed by the community that contributors are asked to follow when adding documentation, but I've not found much opposition to creating pages that don't exist, or adding documentary information to pages that are already there.

Tbh, I consider a wiki a better tool for discussion than a forum.
