Buying GWEN, still worth it?

It's been 3 years since GWEN was released so I guess not many people play GWEN anymore?

I've visited some cities like Ascalon City and Droknar's Forge but they are completely empty. So since GWEN is just an expansion, I think I'm not gonna find any more people to quest with? I don't feel like doing the whole game with henchies.

You're wrong about that, actually. GWEN still gets a lot of players, especially during Zaishen missions/bounties or special-event weekends. I think probably the "deadest" outpost in GWEN is Tarnished Haven but that's because it's not near any dungeons, which a great many people still play.

This probably needs to be moved over to Q&A, but...

EotN still sees a fair bit of player activity, probably more mission and quest groups than any of the campaigns (outside of the Zaishen mission of the day). It's also worth getting just for the Hall of Monuments if you think you might be making the move to Guild Wars 2, when it is released.

Christ has it really been 3 years?

GWEN was the funnest time i ever had in GW pve, though i'd imagine its harder to find regular groups to play through dungeons etc. A good guild would fix that though.

I've been playing through some of it recently, and you do still get people lfg so it's not that barren.

Definitely worth the purchase still.

Sounds like your question is.

Is GWEN worth purchasing for PvE content.

The answer is NO

However

If you are planning on getting GW2, then you need GWEN for the Hall of Monuments so you can transfer any acheivements.

For PvP purposes GWEN is needed.

Depends. I assume you have all the other campaigns in which case you might want EoTN to help in getting GWAMM. Lots of people still play EoTN and generally getting the PvE-only skills is really useful as well as being able to participate fully in PvP.

I'd buy it. Dungeon speed clears are a great source of time-killing fun, and are good for grouping. Plus, GW:EN gives you PvE skills that really boost the power of your character, whether you play with other folks or just h/h. Also, the HoM if you're planning on playing GW2.

Honestly, there's lots of good reasons to just get it.

You can also speed-clear in the Underworld and stuff so meh. If you're big on that shit and want to try something new, you could always give it a shot.

You can virtually do anything with just Henchies and Heroes (assuming you have heroes). At the very least, it will take one other person and their heroes to complete a difficult task in HM. So I wouldn't worry about finding people to play with to continue through the game. But if playing with people is what you want, then I would say it's so-so and also depends on what you're trying to do.

EotN is a great expansion, and if you want more titles, heroes, armor, weps etc.... then definitely grab it.

If you're looking for more people to party up with, then that all depends on what you do, and even at what time of the day. For example, doing CoF runs (a dungeon) or being a leecher in Rata Sum to rank up your Asuran title; those are fairly easy to do at the right time of the day. But even at that same time, questing and missions may be just as mild as the activity you find in Old Ascolan.

Alot of farming goes on in EoTN. Think about Raptor Farming and Veattir Farming wich are the most populair to farm event items. Also there are populair high end weapons that can be farmed in EoTN were you can join PuG groups almost every time of the day to Speedclear a dungeon. Like Bone Dragon Staves, Emerald Blade, Storm Daggers, Silverwing Bows etc. Exclusive weapons. Also the max titles makes GWAMM easy.

Seeing you bought it I wish you good luck.

Are you mad? There is a huge ammount of PVE content in EOTN, most of the 18 dungeons are almost like elites areas for a lot of people.

And good luck trying to get a decent team with no asuran, deldrimor, norn, or ebon vanguard skills....

IMO it is pretty much not possible to PVE successfully with other players without EOTN, every group will be looking for PI, SY, EBSoH, Asuran Scan etc... and since the OP wants to play with people again, EOTN is escential.

Although I will agree with you that EOTN is needed for PvP, you wont get very far in PvP without a full skill set to choose from.

If you are looking for a normal playing experience, doing the missions with other players without relying heavily or at all on heroes/henchmen then you will not get what you want to experience in EotN.

There isn't an active population completing content in a way which would be helpful to someone looking to start from scratch. People do Z Missions (a single quest selected randomly each day from every quest in the game making it incredibly unreliable for completing a campaign) and there will be groups forming to complete content in a normal manner, but instead of a group forming easily in less than 20 minutes you will very likely be waiting 30mins+ for every mission and you can forget about quests or unpopular dungeons (which is most of them).

This game is many years old. There are still players and people completing content, but the experience you would have in the first year of release simply does not exist any more.

Besides the popular demand for EotN PvE-only skills...

I like the PvE content of EotN, including EotN Heroes!
Except the dungeons, to much work for to little reward.

Any GW player should have at least one campaign plus EotN, imo.
