Weapon Customization In PvP
jazilla
So I have thought about this a bit but I finally remembered to post my thoughts about it here. PvP weapons all give the 20% bonus damage always. For classes that rely on their weapons this can be significant over the course of a fight.
I see so MANY people in various formats running really expensive items in PvP and it makes me wonder how many people have customized these weapons so as to get the damage bonus. How many people are customizing their Obby/Eternal/Crystalline weapons etc.? if the extra 20% damage for these melee weapons doesn't matter that much that high end pvp players aren't customizing them, why should i care about using an equipment template that i am pinged in HA or GvG or even a pvx wiki build for RA?
Do you guys customize your high end gear that you use in PvP(melee weapons, bows, daggers etc.)? Or do you not customize them so you can sell them when you get bored?
I watch enough Hall of Heroes battles to know that a lot of good players use high end weapons, I am just wondering which of you aren't customizing them and which ones are.

Always. If you can't afford to customise don't bother.
Though you used HA as your example, in GvG most of the "high end" characters are pvp characters.
Though i suspect many casual players don't, and wanna look shiny now and again.

You don't know for sure those with nice skins aren't PvP weapons, though outside of semi-regular AT players you're most likely right.

It depends if you are using a pvp char if so they are far better off using pvp weapons.Personally on my rpg chars I will if I intend on keeping it.

a lot of players in high end PvP (GvG maybe some HA players) use tournament reward points to purchase PvP skins which come customized.

I only customize on my warrior and ranger. I also use monk and mesmer but there's hardly any benefit to customizing so why should I? I don't just in case I get bored of my weapons...

Define really good. I'm certain that anyone even remotely relevant customizes their stuff, at least on physicals.
Also keep in mind that buying some rare skins with rps (tormenteds, crystalline, silverwing) is significantly cheaper than buying their pve equivalents.

If you want to PvP, best get them customised if you want to use physicals, if not you are a liability.

Only fools run physicals without customised weapons. PvE or PvP. expensive weapon or not if your not going to customize it sell it to some one who will.

The characters doing phyical damage (war, sin, para, ranger, derv) should be using customized weapons regardless of their "elite-ness".
If you are seeing alot of these weapons on caster characters, keep in mind they don't need to be customized to be used to their full extent.

Also, don't be fooled by seeing people with black armour and rare weaponskins in RA. You can also buy Elite armour and weapons for your PvP character using Zaishen Coins, at Tolkano.
This is in fact how I upgraded the looks of my PvP Ranger. Many people see me in RA with a Crystaline bow and call me a noob for it. What they don't realize is that it's actually a Recurve Bow with a PvP Reward skin and not a PvE Longbow.

For melee weapons, Ofc, customize for pvp, rare or not

4x runic axe
4x stonecrusher
4x broadswords
all customized, of course. there are plenty of other players with way more expensive gear that have customized as well. I'd say I'm more of the norm than the exception.

Stuff like voltaic spears i dont customize, because i like to swap them between characters. My dhuum soulreaper/torm scythe, daggs, bow, hammer, sword, etc etc i all have customized.
20% damage bonus on a spear when you have 0 spear mastery doesnt do anything. On physicals (and rangers/paras) it is really a must however.

Same! I swap my VS between 4 characters and my friends think i've got 4 >.<. I do have two tormented shields because I was a moron and put one in the HoM so I can only use it on my monk now... but they're cheap so doesn't really matter.

Also I always use my stormbow in RA because usually retards like to do skirmishing in the beginning rather than moving in as a team. You can usually use the extra range to poison a couple targets down before swapping to recurve once you get closer.

@OP: Customize weapons you know you're going to keep and weapons on physicals or weapons where you actually need the damage from it.
