I've been to all the festivals except for the first dragon one and the first halloween one and I'm in favour of making all past hats obtainable. I couldn't give a flying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO who was at the first wintersday festival with me and neither does anyone else in the game. If someone wants a hat give them their RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing hat, all the precious people who want to feel better than everyone else can jump in a lake, it's depressing being around people who think like that.
Festival hats should be tied to quest rewards each year allowing anyone to get them during the festival instead of the stupid afk fest we have each year. I'm sick of having to log in my toon to sit afk on a ring each year just to get the hat. I'd rather do the quest chains and get the hat by actually playing the game and participating in the festival.

The official wiki wasn't built until then but the original wiki, Guild Wiki, served the community perfectly fine until ArenaNet stole it's thunder. Both wikis are going strong today although for many years (and in some cases even today) content from Prophecies and Factions is documented better on the original wiki.
The official wiki didn't really add anything to the community aside from a failed experiment in directly exposing ArenaNet staff to jaded and angry fans.
