EotN skills ?

Just started playing a short time ago having bought the trilogy pack. After surfing through the Wiki build forums(cant remember the name now), I noticed that a very large number of the builds req. EotN skills, primarily Asuran Scan. I can fully understand the reason for the skill to be in a majority if not all builds, but kinda disheartening when I see it in all the builds that I saw and liked.

Question tho is, should I wait till I get one toon to 20 to bother picking up Eye? I plan on getting it eventually, just not sure if theres a point to getting it this soon. And also, how far in do you have to play to unlock Asuran Seal? Primary is Assassin, no second chosen yet, if that makes any difference.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions(ESPECIALLY if theres a skill I could use in place of Scan, till the skill becomes available to me)

YA you might want to wait until your lvl 20 since all the creatures in EoTN are max out at lvl 20+, bosses being lvl 30 in Normal Mode. EoTN is a expansion pack to the first game so there are no low lvl areas unlike Factions or Nightfall where they are stand alone games thus having low lvl areas for new characters.

Asuran Seal? Never heard of it but I take it you meant Asuran Scan. Go to wiki.guildwars.com and search for the skill and it will tell you how you get it.

When you travel to EotN with a pre-20 character, you're buffed by Journey to the North, which ramps up your attribute, health, and energy levels so you're "treated as a level 20 character" but you can't change your attributes. In other words, you could get it now, go to EotN and probably be ok... but it might not be a bad idea to really familiarize yourself with whatever professions you like and other game mechanics first because the expansion is supposed to be tougher.

Asuran Scan comes in (what I think is) pretty far into the story, but it's probably doable in a couple hours. Profession doesn't play into that too much. I don't know of any skills that you could substitute for it, but others might!

Asuran Scan is an incredibly powerful skill, but I wouldn't recommend rushing ahead to get it unless you're an experienced player. EotN is designed for players who have completed a campaign and are looking towards tougher content. If you jump in as soon as you can you'll have a very hard time. I think it would be better for you to finish Factions, then move on Nightfall for the heroes. Once you get to know the game mechanics and be a decent player you should try the EotN stuff.

No. You just need to be level 10. You get a buff to your attributes and skills so you can play like a level 20 while in EOtN areas. It is well worth getting to certain pve-only skills as soon as you can.

A few that come to mind are: Asuran Scan, By Ural's Hammer, Pain Inverter, and Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support. Of course there are plenty of other good ones, but those four can be real game changers in a build.

imo you should at least beat one campaign without EotN skills. Yes they are a great help but you should not need them in NM. And I think it's rather difficult to get EotN skills if you play your first character, because you don't have enough skills for your heros (without unlocked skills they are bad rune-able henchmen).

Btw: Are you in a guild? I'm sure they'll help you with the skills.

This points out one of the bad things about using pre-made builds from places like PvXwiki.

Asuran Scan is merely a skill that's used to increase the amount of damage you do. There are many other skills that do essentially the same thing - for example "By Ural's Hammer", Ebon Battle Standard of Honor, "I Am The Strongest", Intensity, etc. In many cases, depending upon the primary and secondary of the build, there can be ordinary, but less effective substitutes for any of the skills in the original build.

So, I can only say that when you find a build somewhere, try to get an understanding of what the build does (how it works) and what functions the skills, weapons, and equipment do. Then you can find other skills, weapons, and equipment that will either do the exact same function, or perhaps be only slightly less effective, or are more in tune with your own playstyle.

If you haven't chosen a secondary yet, you must be very early into the game. In that case, there's not much point in worrying about EotN skills yet. You won't be able to even get to EotN territory until you make it to Kaineng Center (Factions), or Lion's Arch (Proph) or Consulate Docks (Nightfall). Once you do get to one of those places, you can go to EotN.

Hmm, others will disagree, but I wouldn't have started with Factions if I bought the trilogy. As you own all three, there's no reason not to start with the original chapter. Prophecies eases you into the gameplay much more gently than the other two do, and the storyline makes slightly more sense when played in order.

But you started in Factions because you wanted an Assassin, right?
