Forcing AA?
Undead Cheese
Have any of you with higher-end machines had any success forcing AA through your drivers control panel? like CCC etc. I have tried to force 16x AA through my drivers and it ends up just looking worser (it looks like it doesn't apply at all) than the inbult GW 4x AA. Any suggestions?

I don't think anyone has succeeded with that; as a general rule forcing different levels of AA than the game engine supports causes problems. IMO GW is so far behind graphically speaking by 2010 standards, that 16x AA wouldn't help it any.

IMHO, at high-ish resolutions (1680x1050 or more), AA levels beyond 4x have little to offer in a dynamic graphics environment. In other words, they may look good in a screenshot or when standing still, but when actually playing a game they become less noticeable.
So, basically, as Elder said, I don't think anyone has really succeeded in doing that, but it's not worth the effort anyway.
(If you have a monitor that is less than 1680x1050, you'd be better off getting a better monitor )

When I force AA through CCC it causes the edges to become jaggy in-game. I get the best results when I disable CCC's AA and use the 4x AA from Guild Wars' graphic settings.

Rofl at the replies in the thread. Disable "enable post process effects" and then you can use the AA you want. Post process effects can override AA. Same in quakelive with bloom, and other games.

Ah, disabling post-processing effects has worked. Thanks for all the replies.
