So, when I get bored, I start reading the Notes on the GWW of skills, and this one made me wonder:
Quote:
Only your attacks benefit, not those of your summons or pets.
Does this mean other players do not gain the benefit? I've never really used this spell (My main being a monk and all, never found a use for it). Just wondering
Thanks in advance!

Hex Spell. For 9...12 seconds your attacks against this foe deal an additional 45...75% damage.

Not attacks, or all attacks.

The skill essentially means that when YOU hit the one single target YOURSELF with an ATTACK skill, you do wonderful damage. It's one of the best damage boosters for non-caster characters.

Main downsides are:
-only works on attack skills, not spells
-only works for one player - the one who cast it. If two players use it, they'd better agree who will attack what
-requires quite a bit of energy

Actually, this is not your typical hex. Two players CAN both have their Asuran Scans on the same target and each will get the benefit. One does not overwrite the other. Each person's damage will be modified by their own rank in Asuran. They don't benefit from the other player's hex.

On a sidenote, when you combine this skill with Barrage, only your initial target's damage is magnified. The other arrows will strike for much less than the one that hit's your target. By Ural's Hammer, however, will affect all your arrows.

Really? Hard to check due to needing two players but it'd be worth checking.

Well, of course - only the first barrage arrow hits the target hexed by Asuran scan, which only affects the target. By Ural's hammer works on all damage, and will affect all arrows.

Essentially, Asuran scan is great for taking out single targets but is useless for AoE.

this skill is fantastic when running a R/D bar with a scythe especially when used with AoHM. with expertise cutting skill cost in half, it makes your whole bar spammable.

In building our team, we tested and verified this at Master of Damage. We run dual asuran snipers in some of our teams. They are able to take down almost any enemy in the game very quickly. The guys won't let me share the build, but I'll tell you this much:

The team will often ignore healers among the enemies, as the snipers can usually kill them one time through their skillbar. If using a MoP nuker, you will see him summoning vanguard assassins really really often.

Counters are blindness and quick hex removal, and energy denial. One thing we speculate is that hex removal will remove both asuran scans simultaneously when applied to the same target, but that's just our theory. Having a cover hex on the nec bar can make things flow like a river. Hex order may depend on the foe's ability to remove them.

If you decide to try this, consider also having a weapon skill rit with EoE. You will lol at Great Dwarf Weapon. Splinter is of course crazy good.

Asuran Scan only modifies the damage of the caster. It's unusual in that you can have many people apply it at the same time to all get the boost but a single removal skill takes it off regardless of how many "copies" are applied.

I can understand where it can be confusing, seeing as the foe gets hexed and only your character does the extra damage, but that is how it is. The hex YOU place on your foe allows only YOU to do more damage to him, not your friends.

Some hex spells that benefit the caster may be cast on the same target without removing the previous copy from another caster. The target will have just one version of the hex in their effects monitor, but each caster will be able to gain the benefit. Life Siphon and Parasitic Bond are two examples of hexes that may share a single target from multiple casters. I haven't tested multiple copies of Asuran Scan on a single target, but it wouldn't surprise me if it works like other hexes do.
