Hello oh tech-savvy guru's. I have yet another problem i cant seem to find a straight answere to.

My second hand Acer Aspire One Netbook AOA150(1.6ghz Atom proc. WinXP, 1gb of ram,120gb HDD) wont boot into windows.

Ive tried most everything, all the way to a v.3310 BIOS flash and nothing gets it passed the windows loading screen without this BSOD

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
Acer support is terrible and i dont have the recovery disk...any advice?

your hard drive might be a goner, i would try to acess it using windows dvd or ubuntu live cd(its free and allows means of backup before full reinstall)

is you cant access the drive you need to get a new one ...

P.S.
if you dont know a thing about formating and such you better stay put and go to a local computer suport store

I was just going to ask if you had loaded the "Default" settings in the Bios, but it's stated more succinctly here:

The only option from Quaker's list that would apply to your netbook is the mangled OS one.

Boot from an XP disk (no doubt you'll have to borrow one from someone) and head for the recovery console. From the command line, enter chkdsk /r and cross your fingers. If that fails, repeat the process but try entering fixboot instead.

(My, I'm just starting to realise how much Vista/7 improved on recovery options )

Thanks for the replies fellas, ill report any progress once i find a boot disk.

Update edit: On my quest to build a floppy bootdisk and transfer it into a flashdrive, since the netbook has neither a CD or floppy, it appears my Floppy Drive isnt functioning properly. Ive tried 6 different and brand new floppies and i keep getting "No ID Address mark found". Guess im going to a friends house to try more...
