Help w/ Ritualist? :)

Okay, I'm level 4 and I find this game actually to be really hard. In the starting areas in factions, there are like 2-4 nagas in packs, or sometimes I come across these level 9 creatures that I have no idea how I'm supposed to take down at level 3.

I don't even know if I'm playing the class right. I summon a blood spirit level 3 guy, and I try to use my spell that does that delayed lightning damage while healing at every chance I get.

Ultimately, I'm just taking too much damage, and not being able to redirect my spirits to DO something so I can sit back is kind of frustrating. I mean, I want my spirits to tank for me, no?

I'm also having trouble getting the right target. I try and switch to the target I want, but I think the game is killing another one? It's either that, or my spirit is focusing on the other target and is doing a lot more damage than I am!

I'm kind of a lost. Help?

Don't go out alone (at least into those areas).

Take a monk for healing and a warrior and/or assassin as a meat shield.

You should be in the back doing ranged damage and summoning spirits.

save all the collectible drops, and look out for collectors. They'll have armor pieces with higher armor that will drastically reduce the amount of damage you take.

also, you can't force spirits to target what you want. Generally they seem to go after weaker classes, especially healers, and if you put painful bond on an enemy they generally go after that one, but you can't force them to all shoot for one enemy of your choosing.

the early areas of factions are pretty difficult for new players, as the henchmen are very weak, there is no armor crafters (just armor collectors), no heroes at all, and very narrow skill availability. Things will open up quite a bit more when you get to the mainland.

As Rugar said, make sure your party is filled up, if not with other people then with henchmen (P to bring up the party search window). Take a healer, a frontliner such as a warrior/assassin, and someone else to give your team a bit of balance.

If you've reached Ran Musu Gardens, the skill trainer there has a skill called Armor Of Unfeeling which is a useful defensive buff for your spirits. You can also get Draw Spirit there, which lets you teleport your spirits one at a time, although this is superceded by another better skill much later in the game which I'll leave you to discover.

Good luck.

Wow, getting a healer and a warrior solved the problem. They practically kill the monsters by themselves.

Makes a pretty big difference

I'm going to fetch me some armor pieces. Thanks!

Also remember you don't have to save collectible items, you can just buy the armour pieces

not want to burst your bubble but,

When you have the option to select a secondary you take all the secondary quests from Togo .get 50g when you come down the stairs of each profession.2 QUESTS FOR EACH. do all those at the end of each they ask you to go to TOGO.( so you go to next secondary and do the quests rinse and repeat

Then when you go to Togo accept all the secondary rewards(XP plus Gold )from him and then choose your secondary profession from him.

You will be close to level 10 if not more

So if you are still level 3 or 4 reroll your char and start over.

Armour is very cheap to buy at the start and also at harbour since you did all secondary quests and pick ups you will have enough gold to get armour till you reach the Mainland

Take the henchmen and armor shouldn't be a problem for a rit. Just don't get in too close and let the meatshield take all the agro. Doing that you can use the starter armor until you reach the mainland without upgrading at all then follow budek byway up to kaieng centre and go straight to your proffesions max armor

I have another question. Which second profession is safe to get, once I eventually pick one? I don't want to screw myself, but the thing is, I really don't know enough about the game to make an intelligent choice.

Most ritualists use solely ritualist skills in their builds, so you can pick anything you want.

Even better, a little later in the game you will be able to change your secondary professions (an infinite amount of times), so don't feel too pressured to pick the 'right' one.

Wrong x2.

First, Painful Bond does NOT affect the AI at all (but yes you should still use it). The reliable way to use this is to see what the spirits are attacking before casting it. Also remember that hex affects more than just your target.

Second, you can "encourage" your spirits to attack what you want by a few methods: 1) Attack a target before it's in range of the spirits. Spirits will often follow your target in that circumstance, 2) If you have a spirit moving skill, you can pull your spirit to where it is likely to attack your desired target, and 3) the skill Summon Spirits (Luxon/Kurzick) will "focus" the spirits to attack the same target, and 4) Strategically summon your spirit at a moment where it only sees the target you want it to attack. They usually won't change targets under that circumstance until they've killed the first one.

Actually, w/ is short for "with". So he asked for "Help with Ritualist", not for "Help Warrior/Ritualist".

Um...what? Yes there are armor crafters. There are ones in Shing Jea Monastery, Ran Musu Gardens, and Seitung Harbor.

Not max armor, that's not until the mainland, but you can't get max period before then. But there are most certainly crafters on the island.
