So when setting up for a guild Physway run I noticed that Terraway groups want to see stones to prove experience.

I've always found it funny when people set up for groups and you see things like 'no noob' or 'no failer'.

Are these people stupid enough to think that people don't/won't buy them?

Ben.

People are idiots I've given these stones to people in guild that have never stepped foot in UW doesn't make them anymore experienced. People in my guild joke around about this all the time saying we have xx amount of stones are we pro enough for terraway or whatever is currently the most popular.

I am ashamed to say that I actually have done FoWSC a few times myself... but I always find it funny when somebody joins a group, often times, they will ask "are you guys no fail?". I've found that people actually take it really seriously (and get mad, then leave the group) when I respond with "Nope, I plan on failing". Basically, people take Guild Wars, speedclearing in particular, much, much to seriously.

It seems that SCs are SrsBsns.

But serously; a guildy went on 5 (75+ stone) runs and failed hard.

Exactly why the "showing stones" system is flawed. You can have a lot of stones and still be terrible. I have over 20 stones, but I have never done an Underworld speed clear. I got all of them by playing the balanced way. I could easily get into a "good" group because I am experienced, per se, but if I did join one of these groups, I would have no clue what to do.

Summoning stone. You get a special summoning stone (2 in hard mode) for beating Underworld. People use that as a way to gauge how "experienced" a person is at speedclearing.

Really hate the whole no fail/exp/pro elitism. I nearly joined a pug for a full DoA run but I honestly just couldn't do it after I heard one auto-kicked my friend because she didn't know the answer to some question. I'll play with my friends, instead, thanks.

Edit: ninja'd above.

So I can sell my experience to someone else and become a newbie again?
Sounds like a good profit can be made here.

It's amazing how many people can't grasp the concepts of "Game" and "Fun."

Whereas speedclearing can be fun, I do have to agree that some people take it too competitively. Obviously doesn't stretch for PvP (where competitiveness is the man reason to play), but in PvE, this is taking it to a whole new level....

First I've heard of the stone test. Pretty lame.
Bad players are bad players. You can sometimes tell by seeing their builds, but not always. One thing is for sure, you can never tell by the stuff they carry.

I guess it must suck when you go to move your stones and accidentally double-click one. Oops! There went a symbol of your epic SC abilities... oh wait... no biggie! You can always buy more!

Anyone can show a bunch of stones, an awesome skillbar, and awesome weapons. It doesn't mean they know what they are doing.

I can assure you that I could buy enough stones, ping the right bar, and show off my awesome weapons to make groups think I'm awesome. Truth is, I haven't stepped foot in UW in over 6 months. Would YOU want me in your group? I'm not saying I'm a bad player, but I seriously doubt I'd be doing your uber godly SC group any favors by joining.

Pugging always will be a gamble. If you want to be 100% sure about the abilities of your party members, go with people you know!

Ya ive seen these morons too...
Sitting in Temple of Ages asking for a obscene amount of Stones.....to Uw
Or in Vlox Falls asking for max rank titles.....to Shard Of Orr.(which is just as dumb)
The Big problem is that there going in Pug groups expecting a max title, or a large amount of stones will gauruntee a victory.
But of course most of us know,
getting a PUG group that can do something besides piss & moan, troll each other and ping there latest Voltaic Spear and tormented shield.............is asking way to much.
Just my 2 cents.

Shards of Orr is insanely easy too for anyone thinking max titles means anything my first time through in SoOSC finished the 3rd level in 7 minutes no wipes.
I know which is why I stated so.
Making a a player show him your max asura rank, does not show that he can Soo better then someone without, for all you know he could have maxed it doing other stuff and not even have shadow form on his bar..
But according to some people, rank 10 asura means your Pro at doing a run that any newbie with the right bar can run.
hell last nite before my computer DC'd me at fendi, I was running it with 6-9 Frames per second and a ping that was over the thousands
and yes Im using another computer now

i think all the SC a-holes are pvp players i really do. no other player base could be so eliteist and paranoid about failing . But yea, i could go and buy 10k stones.. that means im auto pro right? yea these things mean nothing. Heck, you couldve doen the run 1,000 times, and have a bad day and fail.

Haha... stones... the PvE equivilant of HA rank discrimination. Large quantities of either stones or Fame points are readily available to players with either no life, or bought from highly organized guild teams.
