Show Stones
TalanRoarer
So when setting up for a guild Physway run I noticed that Terraway groups want to see stones to prove experience.
I've always found it funny when people set up for groups and you see things like 'no noob' or 'no failer'.
Are these people stupid enough to think that people don't/won't buy them?
Ben.

People are idiots I've given these stones to people in guild that have never stepped foot in UW doesn't make them anymore experienced. People in my guild joke around about this all the time saying we have xx amount of stones are we pro enough for terraway or whatever is currently the most popular.
TalanRoarer
Haha; we joke about it too.
What a f*cking stupid idea.

I am ashamed to say that I actually have done FoWSC a few times myself... but I always find it funny when somebody joins a group, often times, they will ask "are you guys no fail?". I've found that people actually take it really seriously (and get mad, then leave the group) when I respond with "Nope, I plan on failing". Basically, people take Guild Wars, speedclearing in particular, much, much to seriously.
TalanRoarer
It seems that SCs are SrsBsns.
But serously; a guildy went on 5 (75+ stone) runs and failed hard.

Exactly why the "showing stones" system is flawed. You can have a lot of stones and still be terrible. I have over 20 stones, but I have never done an Underworld speed clear. I got all of them by playing the balanced way. I could easily get into a "good" group because I am experienced, per se, but if I did join one of these groups, I would have no clue what to do.

Summoning stone. You get a special summoning stone (2 in hard mode) for beating Underworld. People use that as a way to gauge how "experienced" a person is at speedclearing.

Really hate the whole no fail/exp/pro elitism. I nearly joined a pug for a full DoA run but I honestly just couldn't do it after I heard one auto-kicked my friend because she didn't know the answer to some question. I'll play with my friends, instead, thanks.

So I can sell my experience to someone else and become a newbie again?
Sounds like a good profit can be made here.

It's amazing how many people can't grasp the concepts of "Game" and "Fun."

Whereas speedclearing can be fun, I do have to agree that some people take it too competitively. Obviously doesn't stretch for PvP (where competitiveness is the man reason to play), but in PvE, this is taking it to a whole new level....

First I've heard of the stone test. Pretty lame.
Bad players are bad players. You can sometimes tell by seeing their builds, but not always. One thing is for sure, you can never tell by the stuff they carry.

I guess it must suck when you go to move your stones and accidentally double-click one. Oops! There went a symbol of your epic SC abilities... oh wait... no biggie! You can always buy more!
Anyone can show a bunch of stones, an awesome skillbar, and awesome weapons. It doesn't mean they know what they are doing.
I can assure you that I could buy enough stones, ping the right bar, and show off my awesome weapons to make groups think I'm awesome. Truth is, I haven't stepped foot in UW in over 6 months. Would YOU want me in your group? I'm not saying I'm a bad player, but I seriously doubt I'd be doing your uber godly SC group any favors by joining.
Pugging always will be a gamble. If you want to be 100% sure about the abilities of your party members, go with people you know!

Aba
Ya ive seen these morons too...
Sitting in Temple of Ages asking for a obscene amount of Stones.....to Uw
Or in Vlox Falls asking for max rank titles.....to Shard Of Orr.(which is just as dumb)
The Big problem is that there going in Pug groups expecting a max title, or a large amount of stones will gauruntee a victory.
But of course most of us know,
getting a PUG group that can do something besides piss & moan, troll each other and ping there latest Voltaic Spear and tormented shield.............is asking way to much.
Just my 2 cents.
I know which is why I stated so.
Making a a player show him your max asura rank, does not show that he can Soo better then someone without, for all you know he could have maxed it doing other stuff and not even have shadow form on his bar..
But according to some people, rank 10 asura means your Pro at doing a run that any newbie with the right bar can run.
hell last nite before my computer DC'd me at fendi, I was running it with 6-9 Frames per second and a ping that was over the thousands
and yes Im using another computer now

Shards of Orr is insanely easy too for anyone thinking max titles means anything my first time through in SoOSC finished the 3rd level in 7 minutes no wipes. |

What a joke. I've got 6 max asuran toons (from raptors...) and I've never set foot in Shards of Orr other than to get to Gadd's...

i think all the SC a-holes are pvp players i really do. no other player base could be so eliteist and paranoid about failing . But yea, i could go and buy 10k stones.. that means im auto pro right? yea these things mean nothing. Heck, you couldve doen the run 1,000 times, and have a bad day and fail.
Sarevok Thordin
Wow, people are idiots, now they are trying to tie SCing with "rank".
Pony Slaystation
Haha... stones... the PvE equivilant of HA rank discrimination. Large quantities of either stones or Fame points are readily available to players with either no life, or bought from highly organized guild teams.

Not even with the guild or ally. Shure there is some skill in do it the fastest
way possible... but Dmn,, to my opinion its the most nubish way to do
UW or FoW.. take a random team with every body his own favorite build
and finish it that way... It's more fun and much less nubish.

You could do alot of raging if you outright state "I bought mine" once you are in the midst of a wipe during a SC
Kook~NBK~
How much fun would this be?
1. Go to ToA
2. Spam "WTB Stones (for a very low price. Unless you really wanted to buy some.)" for 5 minutes or so.
3. Then spam "LFG - Have Stones"
Imagine the flames!!!!!

o_O so i'm superpro
i have like 75-80 mysterious summon stones, 25 zaishen, few snowman, few grentch, few merchants, raptor, devourer and some i forgot
what a joke idea, and worse, to me its new
sigh, another reason to want the full hero party maybe? (not going offtopic here)
i'm sorry to say, but in the future i may not join anyone anymore if it goes like this......
i mean, there always are people who like to help, and i know someone who likes merch stones for his vaettir farms, but stones or any item being a reason to be able to join, that would end the normal multiplayer part, and make it a hardcore gamers mmo
with normal multiplayer i mean: a game where people help and join each other to have fun, this is going too far, its merely a so called "pro" game this way, which shouldn't be online
i'm laughing at this subject, but at the same time i doubt i find anyone to do missions or such with if the ones who just wanna help leave gw now
like: running from ascalon to sardelac (1 town further) for 10k
i can solo it, lol
well, i'll wait for the next thing to show up, maybe we must have ecto's to be able to join parties -_-

Lol.... would love to see their face when you show them a whole lot of mysterious summoning stones instead
Ayuhmii Shanbwa
means i have no idea
so you gotta show em fake "elite" stones?
the word "idiot" has another meaning right now
taking summon stones to prove you can do it, just say: i sold them 3 days ago to an old friend
arenanet: remove those summon stones, or let nicholas have them too
this elitism goes to their head
perfection does not exist
let anet lock fow and uw for 1 week, without telling it'll come back
we'll be able to see the people who can play normal
i'll be posting in that "7 hero team" topic about this soon
gw is no longer a friendly multiplayer game, maybe for some people who didnt leave gw yet, but it becomes worse
for now, i'll go to ToA no flaming or offending, just making fun of it
like telling em myst stones are much better, they wont know what to say, lol
*i'll get alot of enemies soon, haha*

I think its kind of funny i was joining a UWSC team the first time since last halloween and the leader of the group told me to show stones, i was an SoS rit a job that doesnt exactly take brains and not really high stressed in terraway and he still flamed me for ten minutes saying no noobs allowed and kicked me from group an hour later my buddy pm'ed me from that group and told me the group leader the one requesting for stones caused the team to fail hard
RedStar
Meh before they said "Exp group" "No fail group" "No noob", now they say "show stones". Same old story...some people want to Speed Clear to be fast (duh! xD) so they think it's a certain way to attract seemingly good players.
Sometimes those groups are actually fun, the other 80% of the time, it's just another group that is more likely to fail because some really inexperienced players will go into them and will be too shy/embarrassed to asked any important questions.
So yeah...the risk of joining a PUG xD.

This is why Guild Wars is great! No one has to play with people they don't want to :-)
To those who are suggesting never finding a pickup group again, please don't! Some of us like to have fun just playing the game, regardless of build, skill or any silly 'stones' requirement. It may be idealism, but I like to think there are more out there than you commonly see (particularly in the forums!).
GW isn't such a hard game that a few funny random builds will cause headaches, except for a few areas best left alone. I still remember doing The Wilds mission with an 8 warriors PuG, and it was freakin' hilarious.

Honestly, I always thought "Show Stones" meant that they wanted a pic of my cojones.
Ironically, every time I've sent the pic, they've let me in their group....so I wasn't even aware that "stones" meant something else.

Uh, maybe this makes us a bunch of noobs, but my guildies actually *use* their stones. I guess none of us will be able to pug in the Underworld.
