I base it off the item mostly.

If the item is hard to get and is a tedious farm, I sell for 5k each.

Otherwise, I sell all my gifts for 4k each.

With selling your gifts, you are guaranteed 20k each week from Traveler Gifts, and another 20k per 5 Royal Gifts you get.

With opening, you take a chance. You could get 20k from selling, or you can gamble and get nothing for opening, or have a chance at something that is worth 100k+. It is all if you are willing to take that chance or not.

I don't bother opening gifts anymore. Went through that let down period, and gave up on it. Always got nothing but junk, so didn't bother opening gifts anymore. Others just have more luck than I do.

Which brings me to another point. Is your drop rate based off Lucky/Unlucky title? I barely have any points in Lucky, but I am almost R2 in Unlucky and my luck on getting anything is crap. I never get rare minis from gifts or awesome items and never get anything amazing to ever drop from me. Yet my friend opens four Royal Gifts, and gets two mini Livia's in a row.

You can push Traveler gifts as high as 4.5k, but generally anything below that will move.

Royal Gifts, however, are another matter. I had over 100, tried to sell <4k, I got silence aside from one party who aborted. I don't know why I couldn't sell them.

Back in march, the average value of an opened gift was 3,400 gold. It should be worth less than that now, so you are better off selling your gifts and buying the item you want.

I always open them Money can be obtained in a number of ways and there is always a chance however unlikely that I will get one of the rare ones.

b/c royal gifts arent worth 4k lol id value them at 2k ea or so(mostly due to the falkan farm).

@OP: id sell. the odds of getting anything worth over 4k are incredibly stacked against you.

Despite knowing that it's statistically more profitable to sell to other chumps willing to take the gamble, I have always instead opted to be the chump that takes the gamble. Never sold any Nic gifts or Royal gifts, and most of the time would use Z-Keys. Why? Cause I don't gamble in real life, and I've got plenty of money in-game.

But if you're looking for cash, I'd sell.

They were worth that much back when I tried to sell, this was months ago.

Depends.

Personally, I LOVE opening gifts of all kinds, just because it's a little tiny rush of excitement with each click. And I don't mind getting cheap party points or sweets because they're fun. (Booze, on the other hand...)

So, in the end, would you be happier with an assortment of sparklers and bottle rockets or about 20k? Your choice entirely

Farming for Nick gifts

I like opening mine. I spend a short time farming what he asks for and then open them. I didn't spend money buying the items, so I don't lose any by opening them....although I guess it also means that selling would be nothing but pure profit...

However, if you buy the items for gifts then I suggest selling, because you lost some money in the beginning. You need the guaranteed money more than the chance money.

I open them because I only have ~1k on each consumable title. And there are many other ways to get money (the FA/JQ weekend for easy balthasar and zkeys)

If you really need the money I'd sell them. Otherwise just open them.

I was going to ask "Better for what?", but this answer pretty much covers it, although "epic" isn't the word I'd use.

if you need the party points and alcohol its easier to keep them ....if you have no use for those (and all the summoning stones) then sell them.
Now that I have finished my drunkard and almost finished sweets I see no reason to try for the 2 minis I still want---much easier to sell them and buy the mini from someone with good luck.

Most likely someone said this before me but anyways...

If you need money sell your gifts. If you don't need money and like a little surprise (I know I do) open the gifts. Consumables you can toss'em in your storage, Never know when they'll come in handy.

I always open mine. I like (to use) those Mysterious Summoning stones.
And some stuff can sell for more then 4k. A full Keg and Red and Blue Rock candies.

As said, apparently, the avarage value of items gotten is less (i guess the epic extreme valuable items u can get are exluded in this avarege ?!).
But u can still get ok/decent gold for selling items gotten from opened Traveler gifts.

I did a quick update on my values and the expected price per gift dropped a little down to 3.3k per gift. This includes the rare minis, but the chance of getting them is soo small that the value excluding them is still 3k.

Note that you have an 85% chance of getting something worth less than 5k. There is less than 2% chance of getting something other than stones or points.

Oddly though, even knowing they are worth more sold than opened, I still open mine because it is fun.
