Question about restarting Survivor and gear
Milennin
So yeah, my Survivor character just died due to a disconnect, so I might as well just re-make him. Since all of his items are customized, would it work if I re-make the character with the same name? As in would his customized weapons be as strong for my new character with the exact same name as they were on the old character?

That sucks.=/

All customized items are locked to that specific character. Even a new character with the same name won't be able to use them.

Which is a shame, because with name changes, you could give away full obby to the tramps like Oxfam, so as to know they don't spend it all on drugs and booze.

@ HigherMinion: what?
@ OP: From Guildwiki:
"Customized items cannot be used by any other character, even those on the same account.
Putting a customized item in storage, deleting the character, and then making another otherwise identical character does not let you use the customized item with the new character."
It has something to do with each character having a specific string of numbers and whatnot that identifies it to the game itself, and the char name is irrelevant.
Also, I would suggest not necessarily customizing weapons on a survivor char until they reach legendary, for the very reason you mentioned above. The extra 20% shouldn't be necessary, unless it's like the thunderfist knuckles for boxing, and those are easily replaceable.

Basically, a character is given a unique ID that only Anet knows, and that's where the customization comes from, not necessarily the character name.
I tried this a while ago using PvP characters, I made a warrior, put the armor in storage, than made a monk with the same name, and tried to get an 80 AL Monk. Didn't work. Good waste of 4 minutes though :-)

I was comparing people who buy the materials in full for a set of Obsidian Armour to that of poor little Africans who then, instead of buying food and water, buy weapons, drugs and drink to drown their life away. Nevermind!
