Ventari's Rules regarding services

My thread about a fame farming service got locked/removed for being a violation of the Ventari's rules. I have no problem with lock itself, as again, it clearly says they are not allowed (so I was in the wrong -but I dind't know before the mod told me), what I do wonder is why this rule exists?

Running PvE for someone is no different than running PvP. Heck, when you enter HA, it even says competitive/coorporative mission. And even then, it's not like the party member goes afk, or we're manipulating PvP matches. Ive gone though the intire EULA and Rules Conduct (There is alot of money involved here), and nowhere does it say that this form of service is not allowed.

All I do is offer people a spot in my group for a certain price. Similar to picking up a R10+ pug, I instead pick an unranked guy because he's got the money to pay for it. Guild Wars money that is.

The only reason I could come up with, is to avoid confusion for NCSoft in case they ban me (or the buyer) for real-world-trading. However, the amounts were talking about here don't even come close to RWT'ing numbers. Assuming we're talking about a 100 fame run, it's still "only" 300K, or 60zkeys. Concidering I've seen people pay over 500K for full NF/Cantha/GWEN runs, aswell as the fact that they do go afk, I don't see what the problem is.

What exactly is the reasoning behind this measurement, just wondering... It's a big business, and I feel this is pure discrimination against the PvP community as this is one of the few ways to make good money. (Balth faction for keys doesn't even come close to making good money)

Looking forward to the reply...

Killed U Man,

We originally disallowed Fame Farming as a service because of the very high number of people who were either asking for or giving away their account information (in order for the person performing the service to farm fame). While we do understand that we can't protect everyone from making bad decisions, we felt that this behaviour was too far over the line to be permitted.

I understand your point about PvE being hardly different, and it is something I thought of when we originally disallowed Fame Farming. The difference in the end was that 0 cases have presented themselves with regards to asking/giving account information for PvE.

Jenn
