Going along with the theory behind gw2, why don't we remove the direct healing aspect of this arena and use the set up of hero arena to develop a faster and less defense oriented meta game. As with fps games, games with respawn and kill count win condition are more fun to play than those without imo.
With 4 people playing on each team, it'll be harder for red resign abuse and hey if the developers think this kind of play style is good for gw2, then why don't they test it out by introducing it in gw1 and see how well this new system works.
