To be fair, the store is probably the source of most of the little money they still make off this game, so it makes sense they would want to fix any bugs it might have.
AngelWJedi
the store is also where most people had issues with. remember when people had issues with buying those panes? or people getting banned because of some issue on anet's end? >>

Seems like they could have bundled routine maintenance into last week's famous routine maintenance update.
I've grown to hate updates, since I now have to update 3 GW clients every time something comes out, which is fine if it's worthwhile, but ugh, this?
I hate to complain about things like this but I'm ready for at least a small taste of a real update.

These mini updates are just ANet's way of making sure the pipes are still working. When the Derpocalypse comes through, nobody wants to be held back by roll out problems.
Right?
Right?

They have strange prioritie$.

That was a massive update for that fix. Bug fix exclusives are normally <50kb

People complain when there are no updates, people complain when there are updates. Anet will never win with everyone. *shrugs*
So you rather have people pay $10 for the storage panes when there being advertised for $5? "They fixed something that was wrong with the game, those jerks"
What if Anet just stopped fixing the bugs altogether than we'd have something to really complain about.
As it occurred to anyone maybe the Anet GW1 team as just come off of two tours of conventions (Gamescon & PAX). Also that they are working on something called a Halloween Festival and the Dervish skill updates.
They also hide updates and do stuff to the game without releasing the information on the "Games Updates" page.
When Anet does something they make sure it's right before it's released to the public. I rather something take months to be done right, than have some rushed broken update that just screws game play over.

Have you played GuildWars?

Speaking of hidden updates, I'm interested in the degree to which we can read them. We have the data, but is it legible?

For me, it's the most depressing update ever. I was really excited when I downloaded a 1.7MB update (wouldn't that be enough for a huge skill update?) but then I read the update notes ...
I like the hidden update idea ... it gives some kind of hope

Example of Anet putting secret updates to the game was the Guild Wars Beyond content "War In Kryta" where they put in the "Shining Blade Camp" for players to discover on April 2nd, but the Update Notes just had Automated Tournaments/bug fixes. That is the kind of thing I'm talking about when I say "hide updates".
People may not agree with some skill updates but, overall I find they make the game better and more enjoyable.
Sure there's big ones that piss people off like the "Shadow Form" nerf. All that meant to me was time to find another way to farm, and the answer was the Ritualist Spirits.
I'm not saying every update is perfection with Anet, there was a time when the updates got so bad the "GW Test Krew" was born and stepped in to help the developers. Which brings up the point of the Devs and Krew have to communicate back and forth so it now takes twice as long to get a skill update done and out the door.
I still don't see a problem with this update, there was a known issue Anet promptly fixed it.

It's not what was in the update that angers people. It's what wasn't in the update.

This update was to fix a known issue/bug in the game and Anet did their job and fixed it as fast as they could.
Who's to say the holy skill update isn't scheduled for next week or the start of next month.

Anet's Live Team has shown a clearly, and in an indirect fashion, that they no longer wish to invest their time and resources in this old, withering game. That's the reason for their declined efforts and untimeliness in skill changes/balance. Truth hurts... but it's the truth [unfortunately].

did anyone check the hall of monuments for new discussion? or did anyone look for langmar's rotting corpse in north kryta yet?

Bottom line is this game is on its last legs at the moment, if they dont release some sort of meat for us to chew on then its going to lose a lot of players. When I say players I refer to the ones that have done most of what GW has to offer.
Obviously with a team of 5-9 people running GW were not going to get much of anything at the moment. Any sort of skill or content update will liven things up.
Thing that is obvious to me is I dropped by in Kamadan for the last few nights and I only see about 65-80 people in trade, normally its 100 + that speaks volumes to me. The game is a dead horse and it needs some new life to liven things up a bit.

Yeah I've heard this game was on it's last legs/ shutting down 3-4 years ago, so forgive me If I think this game is alive and well. (I'm delusional right?)
A video game is only as fun as you make it, with my guild. Everyday Guild Wars is hours upon hours of fun and excitement.
We come up with new builds, we do the daily bounties, we'll just sit and talk ect... we make the game ours.
I understand the need for new content but, when you start to depend on it to make the game fun and new. That's when it's time to put down Guild Wars for a few weeks and come back to it, nothing wrong with taking a break from a game.

Putting down the game wont make it any fresher when you have seen and done everything many times over to be honest. I love the game thats why I want to see something to shake things up.
The war in kryta content was a great deal of fun but theres only so many times one can repeat those bounty quests and z quests without imploding from the sheer repetitive nature of it all.
Only other time I use gw is just to chat with old friends, other then that there really isint anything at the moment thats keeping me intrested other then the people I have met in game.

While I think that the game is still alive and not dieing, The above quote is definitely true. Anet has shown that they do not care enough to invest time or manpower into maintaining GW1. I guess we can only hope that Anet realizes the potential PR disaster that is occuring. If Anet isn't willing to spend the time or manpower maintaining GW1, then who is to say the same wont be true for GW2?

What I don't understand is why everyone is getting so upset with this update, most all of the game updates come out on Thursday, have been that way for quite some time now, except for the WiK stuff they were rolling it out several times a week or bug fixes. But the "skill" updates have been for the most part on Thursdays.
