That's just the way it is, understandably so.
I would rather the money go to GW2 and "complete abandonment" is an overstatement~

Lol, I wish I had a job with ArenaNet. As my profile shows, I live on the East Coast. I'm also 64 and retired. Many forum users have been waiting for a storage sale, if you are not one of them, no problem, don't buy any.

On the contrary, with the 4th year update we got a bunch of microtransactions and a large update, with the grenth and dwayna costumes we got an UW update(love it or hate it). With the WiK costumes, we got(surprise!) WiK. All this happend when GW2 was in developement. I think some or most of this money will go to GW:B and maybe skill updates.

Pessimists are pessimistic always. If they won the lottery they would be upset about the taxes. Any income ArenaNet can generate helps offset costs in general. This is a good thing. NCSoft may be underwriting the development costs for GW2, but ArenaNet needs income to keep supporting, updating and creating new content for GW.

I'll admit, yea... I'm a pessimist. It's inherent, though. I wasn't born one, I became one because of my interactions and experiences with the people around me. I'd have to disagree with your "lotto" analogy though, Darcy. Give me the winning numbers, and you'll watch me leap with joy at receiving FREE money wholeheartedly. I don't care if I only got a quarter of it, it's still FREE!

Market value is something I wish publishers would take into consideration when it comes to any form of DLC. While a nice jester, it's still a ways off from getting everyone's interest.

Would I dare suggest a 4-in-1 special?

If you have a mule account with one of the campaigns go for EoTN:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832197013

($6 EoTN)

I saw that there is a storage pane deal. EoTN gave one slot...so technically this is cheaper than a character slot if you have a mule account with prophecies/factions/nightfall.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.amazon.com/PC-GUILD-WARS-...4782163&sr=8-2

$12 for platinum edition if you don't have a 2nd account... (4 characters + 2 storage panes + material storage)

http://www.buy.com/prod/ncsoft-guild...206896411.html

$17 after shipping for factions platinum edition also (Bonus mission pack, prophecies, factions, game of the year upgrade) ...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I still think slots are best, since you can
1. reserve names for GW2...
2. roll an extra PvP character , if necessary you can use it to make more presents
3. avoid using dual client to transfer things
3. if you have one character for a use (say one for melee weapons, one for ranged weapons, one for spellcaster weapons) it will be more organized than xunlai storage panes.

and at this point I can see where buying two is economical, but anything beyond that isn't all that practical.

Um this is basic business in its full glory. Giving out an item("content updates") to pull more people into buying their product(microtransactions). Its a business ploy not some amazing thing they did for us players. Even though it sounds mean to say it like that its exactly what every business does, why make a company(Anet) when you don't try to make money?

Yes, that is because GW2 is still in development. What I was inferring is that "complete abandonment" will only occur after GW2 is released. Once GW2 development started, GW1 support and content took a backseat. Once they have a new game out, they will no longer need to keep current GW1 players barely statisfied with late skill balances and such.

Anet needs this money from storage sales, because right now I am sure NCSoft is footing the majority of the GW2 bill. NCSoft is expecting a return on their investment and Anet will be assuring them with the microtrans sales. The sale funds are going straight to GW2/NCSoft.

Don't kid yourself, the only thing Anet truly cares about at this point is GW2. Anything Anet does has an end objective of improving future GW2 sales numbers, and understandably so. They are a business that needs to make an impression with their new game.

I bought all four on Friday. I had been wanting them for a while simply because I get tired of pressing F12 - C all the time to move items around.

I also used the opportunity to pick up the BMP while I was at it, since it basically paid for itself.

I am still waiting for my free panes on 2 of my accounts. Find a way to give me those in-game, then I will consider buying the rest.

I can.

Your contents that you had in the aniversary pane got dumped into the newly purchased "V" slot.

Don't feel bad, it got me too. :P

Agreed. I don't see why I should spend so much money on just one pane. If it was £2.99 or something for all of them that would be different.

^ This. The advantages of buying character slots (or even a new game) far outweigh the advantages of storage panes.

If you don't feel its worth it, simply don't buy it. You don't have to purchase anything that they are selling. Others however find the convenience of not having to constantly log in and out of characters just to find one item worth it the extra $$.

I'd rather 20 slots that I can access on all my characters than 40 I have to keep logging off and back on. I have 12 characters that I play + a pvp slot its hard enough trying to remember who has what without throwing in mules.

Not to mention you still have to use the Xunlai storage anyways to move items from one character to another. And I'm assuming most players fill their storage before even considering buying a mule so they still have to make room in it before swapping items around.

FFFFFFFF- I missed it, and i've been holding out for a Storage Sale, guess that serves me right for not reading the login page notes/not playing very often.
